Earn an adorable baby ogre pet by streaming on Discord

Don’t miss your chance to grab a unique World of Warcraft battle pet by completing a Discord quest before the window expires! By streaming yourself playing WoW to at least one viewer for fifteen minutes, you’ll receive Parrlock, a humanoid battle pet with a fondness for pastries. It shares a model with two previous Trading Post pets, Garrlock and Marrlock.

Discord quests exist in the same realm as Twitch drops. Instead of receiving an in-game reward by tuning into your favorite streamer, you’re the one doing the streaming. The quest can be done in a voice call or channel, so you can stream to a group of friends or in a one-on-one setting within a direct message. You don’t need a fancy setup or even a camera or microphone. Starting the stream and earning the reward was much easier than I anticipated.

But not on MacOS apparently — my first attempt to stream my way to adopting an ogre child was stymied by a message that the quest could only be completed on PC.  There are other restrictions as well, such as needing to use the Discord desktop app rather than the mobile or browser versions. You can take a look at all the requirements as well as a handy step-by-step guide on Discord’s Quest page.

My second attempt went much more smoothly. After starting my stream on our Blizzard Watch Discord voice chat channel, I asked if anyone could pop on to help me complete the quest and our fearless leader Liz joined the channel. Fifteen minutes later I was sharing a Little Buddy Biscuit with my new one-eyed pal, even though it was right after the extended maintenance and most of that time I was streaming my login screen.

If you’re a pet collector, I recommend trying this out — you have until the quest ends on Sunday September 8. Feel free to join the Blizzard Watch Discord server and stream in voice chat after asking someone to join so you’ll have a viewer. Bonus points if this will be your third ogre pet and you post a picture of your new Gorian mini-army.
