Let’s talk about Warcraft Rumble Season 9, starting in October

Warcraft Rumble’s eighth season is currently underway, having premiered the new Dryad unit alongside the Scholomance dungeon. Naturally, the obvious question following the premiere of any season of any game is, “When does the next season start?”

In the case of Warcraft Rumble, Season 9 starts on Wednesday, October 2 at 11 a.m. pacific.

What’s in Season 9 of Warcraft Rumble?

At the moment, details are fairly sparse for Rumble Season 9. And by that I mean this is one of the first seasons since the game’s launch that we really don’t have any previously teased content to guide our guesses. Molten Core, Moonglade, and Scholomance were three of the major tentpoles of the BlizzCon 2023 panel on Rumble, alongside a breakdown of the first four seasons’ worth of content (which… mostly didn’t change).

That said, there are a few very small pieces of information out there that might give us a few hints.

Siege of Orgrimmar may be on the horizon

Blizzard recently released an ArtStation post outlining a lot of the incredible work that the artists behind the scenes have been doing. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it portion of the “Generic Frames for Sieges and Raids” image, there’s one small rectangle with a concept for an Orgrimmar Siege screen.

Now, this could easily have been concept-only, especially given all of the Stormwind images around it are clearly not what made it to the final game. But given the Dryad unit and several details of the Cenarion Festival were also included in the ArtStation post before their releases, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that an Orgrimmar Siege is on the way. (We all love sieging Orgrimmar, right? Repeatedly?)

Family-themed Kobolds and Leader Skins have yet to appear

One of the “maybe yes, maybe no” ideas presented during BlizzCon was in relation to Character Skins:

Now, Kobolds certainly have gotten a skin or two since then — but we’ve yet to see outright Kobold Family skins and there’s certainly not much of a collectible angle to Kobolds. Given original language and the lack of Kobolds in the ArtStation post, though, I’d guess they’re off the table.

Could Blizzard have something planned for the game’s first anniversary?

Blizzard is all about anniversary celebrations, and since the one-year anniversary of Rumble’s launch falls in the tail end of Season 9, it’s quite possible Blizzard has a one-year-anniversary event they’re keeping close to their chest. It’s also possible that it could be a Season 10 event, starting slightly after the end of Season 9. After all, “one year and 10 seasons” has a nice ring to it, right?

In the end, we’ll just have to wait. If tradition holds, Blizzard will give us a teaser for Season 9 toward the end of September, with the official notes to follow a day or two later. Until then, happy rumbling!
