How to queue for the Story Mode Queen Ansurek fight in The War Within
Raiding in Nerub-ar Palace is in full swing at all levels of play in The War Within, from the Race to World First to LFR, but one difficulty is new: Story Mode, which allows anyone to enter a solo version of the Queen Ansurek fight with a party of NPC allies and see an abbreviated version of the encounter. However, while the fight did go into the game on September 17th, it’s not immediately obvious how to enter it!
There are a couple of easy requirements — you need to be level 80, and you need to be through one chapter out of five in the post-game campaign. You can check this by opening your quest log and looking at the top to see what your progress in The War Within’s story is; if it says you’ve completed chapter 1 (or more), you’re good to go.
Once you are, you want to look for Webster, your tiny spider messenger pal from Azj-Kahet. He’ll be in Dornogal carrying a message for you — he’s over by the Coreway, at coordinates 31.6, 62.8, offering the quest Our Chance to Strike. This will start a short chain of quests that eventually leads to To Kill a Queen, which asks you to defeat Queen Ansurek on any difficulty, but also unlocks Story Mode.
In order to get there, you won’t need to queue up for anything in the way you do random dungeons or LFR — instead, follow where the quest is pointing on your map. You’ll reach an NPC by the name of Kriz the “Loyal” who will smuggle you inside for the Story Mode fight. You’ll get a look at the arena for the last fight and engage in a vastly toned-down Queen Ansurek fight, so don’t worry about reading anything in advance — you’d have to try very hard to die during this battle. Once it’s over, you won’t get any loot, but you will get to see the post-fight cutscene in all its glory, and turning in the quest will award you with a heap of Valorstones, enough rep with one of the Severed Threads to gain a level of renown, and — perhaps most enticingly — an Enchanted Runed Harbinger Crest, which you can combine with a Spark of Omens to craft epic gear that goes up to item level 616!
