When does Diablo 3 Season 33 start? Shadows move with the Shades of the Nephalem starting October 25 (that’s tomorrow!)

Diablo 3 Season 32 brought back the Ethereal Memories theme, empowering players with powerful weapons crafted initially to honor the launch of Diablo 2 Resurrected. However, the wheel of D3 seasons is constantly spinning, meaning Season 32 will end, and a new season will spring into rotation. So when can we anticipate the next Diablo 3 season kick-off? Well, the Season 33 preview blog ended our wondering! Diablo 3 Season 33 will start on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 5 pm PDT/CET/KST.

The maintenance mode cycles have followed a consistent schedule since kicking off with Season 30, which started on Friday, January 12, and ended on Sunday, April 7, running 12 weeks and two days. The following Season 31 also ran 12 weeks and two days, from April 12 to July 7. Counting from start date to start date, both of these seasons’ run times fit into the three months previously mentioned by the development team. However, Season 33’s start held a problem — if they followed the standard three-month timeline, it would kick off the same week Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred goes live. Pushing the kickoff date back by two weeks gives the overlapping player communities some breathing room.

We also know the Season’s Journey rewards draw from past seasons in order. Chapters 1 through 4 rewards should draw from Season 9, granting the Pandemonium-themed portrait frames, Rocky cosmetic pet, Conqueror’s transmog items, and the Haedrig’s Gift class sets. Similarly, the higher tiers (Slayer through Guardian) should reward Season 21’s Industrial portrait frame and Stupendous Contraption pet.

The quarterly rotation also started recycling previous seasonal themes — we saw Season 33’s Shades of the Nephalem theme originally in Season 22. As with the past three seasons, theme reuse has been random, unlike cadence or rewards. So far, we’ve seen the following return:

• Season 30’s theme, the Lords of Hell, originated in Season 25.
• Season 31’s theme, the Forbidden Archives, originated in Season 20.
• Season 32’s theme, Ethereal Memory, originated in Season 24.
