Did Ion just say Player Housing in WoW?

We got quite the shock and surprise at the very end of the Warcraft Direct which confirmed at long last, that we’re going to get player housing in WoW. For real this time — though not until Midnight.

Because Ion is nothing if not a gigantic troll who refuses to acknowledge the existence of birds, among other things, he didn’t actually say the words “player housing.” He simply let the reel do the talking. It featured a hero carrying Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, trudging into a building decorated with trophies — including a mounted head of Onyxia — and settling down by a fire with a mug bearing the message “home sweet home.” The later press releases and news on the Blizzard website confirmed that player housing is indeed coming, and during the upcoming expansion Midnight.

We are absent any details beyond this. Will it be like a slightly warmed over Garrison, where we can choose from a few different visual options in specific slots? Will it be a full on soup-to-nuts, even building the walls before you can decorate style construction, like Valheim? I would bet on something in between, on a sliding scale from site favorites Spirit City to Animal Crossing. Also, with the advent of Warbands, will this be per-character, or per-player? Similarly, while we know it’s “coming for Midnight,” that could be as late as patch 12.3, or even the 13.0 pre-patch.

We’ll definitely keep you up to date, not only because we like to keep you informed, but also because we’ve been looking for something like this in WoW since we first noticed that weirdo portal in Stormwind by the Stockades. There’s a lot of conjecture, but we’re going to try our best to not overhype this development — though if we’re being honest it’s already too late for that.
