Warcraft Rumble is coming to PC (but will still be just as much of a grind)

Since Warcraft Rumble launched a year ago, we’ve all been clamoring for a PC version to play. The game has great character design and fun combat, with missions, dungeons, and raids that take us all over Azeroth, but it doesn’t always shine on a tiny mobile screen — and, frankly, it runs poorly on my phone, so by the time a map loads sometimes I’m already bored. Now Warcraft Rumble is coming to PC, with a beta launching on December 10.

During Warcraft Direct, the team also announced new Split Leaders who will be part of two families: Orgrim Doomhammer, Malfurion, and Anub’arak, with Sylvanas being updated to be a Split Leader as well. It’s not a significant change, but it will give you more options for building teams in the future.

But it’s a little disappointing that there weren’t any more significant gameplay changes announced: while fun, the game remains a long grind of endlessly leveling your minis (only to get to end game and realize you actually need different minis leveled to progress). Of course, you can pay cash to help you level those minis faster, and it feels like the game is balanced specifically to maximize the temptation to spend. As you advance, progression speed slows down and it becomes more and more difficult to reach higher level content. While several members of the Blizzard Watch team actively play, I’ve given up on the game as too difficult to progress through — and I’ve played World of Warcraft for 20 years, so I’m familiar with putting a lot of hours into a game.

We’ll have more details about the beta and the final launch of Warcraft Rumble for PC here as soon as we know more, likely late this month.
