WoW Classic 2025 roadmap features the expected updates for Mists of Pandaria Classic and Season of Discovery, with an Anniversary Edition twist!
Another year, another roadmap of what to look forward to in WoW Classic. Yes, our timelines of what to look forward to in both Classic and modern WoW dropped today as part of the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct event. Let’s review the absolute slew of content that 2025 has in store for Classic fans.
As with other roadmaps, we’re looking at the next six seasons of the year — the autumn and winter of 2024 and all of 2025. This means current or recent activities are documented, giving us a starting point for review. Classic‘s roadmap contains three ‘tracks’ for each facet of the title set, the most interesting of which is the newly announced WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition (colloquially — Classic Classic).
Starting November 21, players can return to that classic (hah) feel almost exactly 20 years after its original release. This reboot of WoW Classic will carry through to The Burning Crusade at a minimum (and may reflect what we have to look forward to for Classic cycles in the future) but features fresh economies (instead of the carried-forward ones from current Classic) on larger server realms, with PVP, PVE, or Hardcore play from the onset! Players will have a few weeks of leveling before Phase 1 starts, opening both Molten Core and the Onyxia fight.
Not to be forgotten are the current Classic servers, which continue a rapid-fire content cadence. The final phase of Cataclysm Classic — the Hour of Twilight — is projected for winter 2024, where players take on Deathwing himself in the Dragon Soul raid. Coming soon is the freshly-announced Mists of Pandaria Classic — Mists’ pre-patch (and its devastating Theramore’s Fall story arc) is targeted for summer 2025, with the launch of the expansion campaign story in autumn 2025.
Last but not least, Season of Discovery continues to be an utterly fascinating glimpse into gameplay “what-ifs.” Phase 6 and Ahn’Qiraj raids release November 21 (yes, the same day as Classic Classic). The AQ war effort is projected through winter, with Naxxramas targeted for the spring. However, the Classic team teases new endgame content coming with Naxx on the roadmap — namely, new Scarlet Crusade instanced content and adventures in Deadwind Pass.
Citizens of Azeroth, there are no dull moments in the coming year. Raise your eyes to the roadmap because there’s plenty of content to observe whether you’re a fan of Classic or prefer the modern WoW experience. Happy 20 years of WoW!
