When does WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 7 release? It will likely go live in early 2025

During the Warcraft Direct event, Blizzard dropped a bunch of information on planned releases for their hallmark games, including an announcement of the last WoW Classic Season of Discovery phase intended in winter/spring of 2025. We don’t have a more specific official date yet but we’re estimating that Phase 7 goes live on January 30, 2025 after taking into account that even though Phase 6 goes live November 21, the two Ahn’Qiraj raids don’t go live until December 6. This roughly 8 week window gives players time to experience the raids and the new Descent Into Madness system and would fit into the Classic teams established release cadence.

Phase 7 will feature the Naxxramas raid as well new endgame content focused on the Scarlet Crusade and adventures in Deadwind Pass. Considering most of the endgame content in Season of Discovery features an optional difficulty version that provides new mechanics players need to conquer for extra rewards, it seems likely could see specific Scarlet Monastery encounters come back as endgame content. Naxxramas will also probably get its own optional difficulty mode that may be more in-line with Ahn’Qiraj’s Descent Into Madness system, pushing the difficulty further for players seeking more endgame experiences and rewards.

The nod to Deadwind Pass is also interesting because Season of Discovery Phase 2 introduced the nine Dark Riders, minibosses who each possessed a Dalaran Relic that players could trade in for runes. The Dark Riders are tied to Karazhan, which would be the most obvious place players would associate with the Deadwind Pass zone. Karazhan doesn’t appear as playable in WoW Classic but the implementation of the Dark Riders in Season of Discovery means we could perhaps see instanced content of Karazhan or, perhaps more likely, a continuation of the Dark Riders and Dalaran Relics quests.

Details for post-Phase 7 plans and the future of Season of Discovery have yet to be announced and we probably won’t get those until after release but if Season of Mastery was any indicator, Season of Discovery servers will probably stick around for a few months after the Phase 7 launch.
