Diablo 4 is finally getting an Armory system, making it easier than ever to swap builds
Since the Diablo 4 launch, the community has requested a slew of features from past Diablo games, but the most common request has been an Armory, as found in Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal. In other games this allows players to save builds and armor loadouts to easily swap between — and now this huge quality of life improvement is coming to D4 in patch 2.1, due out in January.
Here’s everything we know about the Diablo 4 Armory, coming with Season 7’s patch.
Blizzard touts the Armory as a feature “for the wanderer on the roam.” It’s designed to open up build flexibility on each of your characters, with separate loadout slots for different gear combinations and their associated skills and paragon points. Functionally, the D4 Armory looks very similar to the D3 iteration, with some visual glow-up to suit the newer title’s aesthetic:
- The Armory will have five loadout slots per character, with options to Save, Load, and set a custom name for each slot.
- Saving a loadout captures any equipped items, your skill selections, paragon board and glyph choices, and how you’ve configured your class mechanic.
- Inspecting a saved loadout will display the gear, skills, paragon nodes, and glyphs that comprise the build while displaying an icon for any gear that is missing from being sold, traded, or salvaged; however, per Community Director Adam Fletcher, gear can be swapped to while it’s in your stash.
- Best of all, switching between your loadouts will not cost gold even if your skill and paragon point allocations change.
One quirk is that the Armory will primarily be accessible in Sanctuary’s major cities, similar to the Diablo 3 version, but it’s a minor limitation for a great quality of life feature. You’ll also be able to access the Armory in other “end game hubs,” such as the Citadel and Kyovashad’s Training Grounds. No note on whether the smaller areas such as the Mercenaries’ Den will receive it in the future. And the Armory isn’t the only improvement coming in patch 2.1, which also expands the Tree of Whispers amenities to add an Alchemist, Purveyor of Curiosities, and Healer.
Now remember, this information is coming PTR patch notes, so we may still see changes to this feature before it’s released to the live game. But it’s still plenty to be excited about, and another sign that yes, it may take a while to implement but the D4 development team does hear your requests. You can test-drive the Armory’s build swapping wonders on the D4 PTR from December 3 to 10.
