Warcraft Rumble is now available on PC — here’s how to download the beta client
Since Warcraft Rumble launched a year ago, we’ve all been clamoring for a PC version to play. The game has great character design and fun combat, with missions, dungeons, and raids that take us all over Azeroth, but it doesn’t always shine on a tiny mobile screen — and, frankly, it runs poorly on my phone, so by the time a map loads sometimes I’m already bored. Now Warcraft Rumble is coming to on PC, with a beta that’s available right now.
To download Warcraft Rumble for PC (Windows only), simply open up Battle.net, go to the Games tab, select Warcraft Rumble and click to install. The current client seems to be stable, and we were able to play a few games this afternoon without any issues. There’s no signup to get into the beta: just download the client and get playing.
During Warcraft Direct, the Rumble team also announced new Split Leaders who will be part of two families: Orgrim Doomhammer, Malfurion, and Anub’arak, with Sylvanas being updated to be a Split Leader as well. It’s not a significant change, but it will give you more options for building teams in the future.
But it’s a little disappointing that there weren’t any more significant gameplay changes announced for the game alongside the PC launch: while fun, the game remains a long grind of endlessly leveling your minis (only to get to end game and realize you actually need different minis leveled to progress). Of course, you can pay cash to help you level those minis faster, and it feels like the game is balanced specifically to maximize the temptation to spend. As you advance, progression speed slows down and it becomes more and more difficult to reach higher level content. While several members of the Blizzard Watch team actively play, I’ve given up on the game as too difficult to progress through — and I’ve played World of Warcraft for 20 years, so I’m familiar with putting a lot of hours into a game.
The Warcraft Rumble beta is available to play right now: just fire up Battle.net and you’re good to go.
