The best way to earn Flame Blessed Iron in WoW patch 11.0.7

We’re off on our adventure to Siren Isle, and that means a new currency, Flame-Blessed Iron, to collect and spend on fabulous rewards. Here’s a rundown of where you can obtain it and the best strategies for hitting the ground running when the servers come up with patch 11.0.7.

Similar to many other zone-specific currencies in expansions past, you’ll receive at least a little Flame-Blessed Iron for just about anything you do on Siren Isle. Normal enemies will drop up to 5, and elite enemies will drop up to 25. For a small island, there are a whopping 16 rare mobs that can spawn, and each of those will drop up to 150 iron.

Once you progress into the story of Siren Isle, you’ll be able to let the wind guide you towards treasure chests. These Runed Storm Caches will net you between 25 and 75 Flame-Blessed Iron. There will be a variety of daily quests to complete which award 200 Iron each, so be sure to visit each daily lockout and complete those.

However, with the sheer number of wares available for purchase, you’ll want to take advantage of the events and mechanics of the island to gather the currency most efficiently. At Flotsam Shoal, you will be able to contribute the Flame-Blessed Iron you have earned to activate a Major Excavation. You can toss in 5 iron at a time towards one of three event types, and once players have donated a total of 150 iron towards one the event gets triggered. Players will have a few minutes to make it to the relevant part of the island, and then you’ll need to clear out a series of baddies before a boss spawns. That boss will earn you up to 300 Flame-Blessed Iron.

The personal cooldown on the Major Excavations is just 5 minutes. After that short wait, you can start the process over again by contributing to an excavation. This means that it will likely be one of the best ways to quickly earn enough currency for all of your Siren Isle shopping, especially in the first week or two when many players will be contributing towards triggering the events.

Once your pockets are bulging with as much Flame-Blessed Iron as you can carry, you can spend it right on Siren Isle on a number of useful items. There’s a waveshredder mount for 10,000, full complements of ilvl 584 bind on pickup gear for catching up your alts, tons of transmog options, and even one creepy-crawly pet.

With our trip to Undermine in 11.1 coming up most likely in February, we’ve got about two months to explore Siren Isle. It should be more than enough time to earn enough of the new currency to pick up your most desired rewards, although you’ll need nearly 50,000 Flame-Blessed Iron to purchase absolutely everything.
