When is The War Within patch 11.2.5 release date — and what’s in it?

World of Warcraft has maintained a solid content cadence ever since the start of Dragonflight and the recently-revealed 2025 roadmap for The War Within demonstrates there’s no suggestion it’ll stop any time soon. Patch 11.0.7 launchedthe week of December 17 and using that as a starting point we can project the release of subsequent patches. While recognizing that the farther we travel the 2025 roadmap the harder it becomes to predict dates, we forecast The War Within patch 11.2.5 will launch the week of September 16, 2025.

Patch release consistency has improved over the past year so a default expectation of seven to eight weeks between patches seems like a safe bet. We’ve been using seven weeks as the interval before a minor patch and eight weeks for major patches for our predicted release dateshowever there are a few reasons why we’re not using seven weeks from our predicted 11.2 date but instead are leaning towards nine weeks. September 1 is holiday in the United States, so the week of September 2 seems very unlikely. There’s also the fact that the 21st Anniversary is indicated on the roadmap so the patch needs to last long enough for the Anniversary to kick in before patch 11.2.7. Finally, the roadmap itself indicates it’s coming in “autumn” and thus a later date in September is suggested. September 16 is where we’re landing with our prediction but September 9 or 23 or even the 30 are also potential weeks for release depending on when previous patches are released.

What’s in patch 11.2.5?

The further out you get on the roadmap the vaguer it tends to get and patch 11.2.5 is no exception. We do know that the 21st Anniversary will be returning after the patch is live, and we expect it to be similar to this year’s Anniversary event.

We can also try to predict based on what happened with patch 10.2.5 during Dragonflight. There were a few quality-of-life updates, including the introduction of Follower Dungeons and the arrival of Skyriding in non-Dragon Isles zones. In terms of content with got the Azerothian Archives event as well as the reclamation of Gilneas. So as the roadmap notes we should expect similar types of content and system updates.

Unfortunately it’s too far off for us to know the details of the new content coming in patch 11.2.5, but keep your eyes on BlizzardWatch and we’ll update with the latest news as it comes out.
