All the brand new and returning rewards available in Plunderstorm’s return

The second iteration of Plunderstorm is upon is, World of Warcraft’s experimental battle royale game mode that offers a treasure trove of pirate-themed rewards. The event will run from Tuesday January 14th through Tuesday, February 18th, so you’ve got five weeks to earn yourself enough doubloons to purchase your chosen mounts, pets, toys, and swashbuckling-themed outfits.

In a move widely welcomed by the player community, the 40-level renown track from last year’s Plunderstorm adventure has been scrapped in favor of a currency system. As you progress through each match and open treasure chests, fight mobs, complete objectives, and battle (or run away from) other players, you’ll earn Plunder. Last time this acted more like gaining reputation — after a certain amount of Plunder earned, you’d gain a renown level and get one reward.

This time the Plunder goes directly onto your currency tab, and you can visit the event vendors to purchase your most desired rewards. Conveniently, you can completely skip any rewards that you’re not interested in and focus only on earning enough pirate gold for your chosen category of pirate swag.

New Rewards

If you haven’t taken a glimpse at the rewards yet, I hope you like the color purple — nearly every new item in the Plunderstore is a void-tinged recolor of last year’s rewards. If you just want the new items, you’ll need to get your hooks on 35,000 Plunder.

Mounts and Pets

Cosmetic Appearances

The main outfit for this iteration of Plunderstorm is the same pirate finery as the original set, but this time it’s black with silver embroidery and purple accents. The whole ensemble will set you back 5,500 Plunder.

We’ve also got four hats and a small arsenal of weapons to match the Stormridden armor set.

Returning rewards

Buckle your eyepatch if you missed last year’s event and need to buy everything available in the entire Plunderstore, as it will set you back 69,500 Plunder.

Mounts and Pets

Cosmetic Appearances

The original garb of the morally questionable seafaring individual was red with gold embroidery and white accents. The detail is exquisite, so if you missed the event the last time around, be sure to drop into Arathi Highlands enough times to earn the 5,000 Plunder required for the set.

In addition to the cohesive fancy pirate captain look, 2024’s Plunderstorm had matching weapon transmogs plus quite a few outfits that allowed for your character to appear as more of an entry-level swashbuckler.

Toys and Tenders

There are two toys available from the Plunderstore if you didn’t earn them in the last go-around: a placeable Jolly Roger, and a hat which causes your Pepe to sometimes appear dressed in an adorable tiny copy of the Plunderlord’s Regalia. There are also packages of Trader’s Tender available for you to spend at the monthly Trading Post, but don’t get too excited — they are each a one-time purchase, including last Plunderstorm. If you earned them on the renown track at level 24 and 33 last year, then no Tenders for you this year.
