What item level gear do you need to run the Liberation of Undermine raid?

Our adventure into the Goblin capital city is just around the corner with patch 11.1 launching on February 25, and many players are revving up their engines to hit the brand new raid, Liberation of Undermine, at full throttle. While you may be itching to punch/shoot/thwack/Pyroblast Gallywix right in his ample jowls, it never hurts to check your gear and make sure you’re properly equipped to take on the eight new bosses.
You’ll need to have an average equipped item level of 606 in order to queue for the Looking for Raid difficulty of Liberation of Undermine when the first wing opens on March 4. If you’ve spent a decent amount of time adventuring across Khaz Algar at max level, then you are likely already qualified. If you’re not at 606 quite yet, the best way to boost up your gear score in a hurry is spending some gold on crafted gear, running some Tier 8 Delves, and upgrading your Veteran-track gear to its max level of 606 — and be aware that Siren Isle offers 584 Veteran gear for sale to fill any weak spots. Spend those Valorstones and crests now, because everything gets reset when patch 11.1 goes live.
If you miss the deadline or you’re content with gearing up once Season 2 kicks off, then boosting your ilevel will be a breeze. The first two weekly cache rewards will give you Veteran gear, which will start at item level 623 on the new track. Low-tier Delves will also award gear above level 600, and the Great Vault will boost that even higher. If you’re currently sitting somewhere in the 590s or low 600s, one week should be more than enough for you to close the gap.
To hold your own in Normal difficulty, you’ll probably want to be in the item level 619 neighborhood. If you’re going to attempt the Heroic version of the raid, then aim to be at least 630 before you waltz in the door. These numbers are based on the item level that drops in those difficulties of the raid (636-642 for Normal and 649-655 for Heroic).
Don’t forget that we’re getting a Story Mode for the Liberation of Undermine raid that will work the same as it did in Nerub-ar Palace. You’ll need to wait one week after Season 2 launches, but on March 11 you’ll be able to queue into a simplified version of the final fight against Chrome King Gallywix himself. There aren’t any gear drops from this difficulty, although there is a quest that rewards an Enchanted Runed Undermined Crest that can be used to commission a crafted item that, for casual players, will carry you straight through to The War Within Season 3.
