How to get to Undermine in World of Warcraft patch 11.1

Once you’ve updated World of Warcraft (and updated all your addons — you didn’t forget that, right?) for patch 11.1, watched the very cool patch cinematic (dig it when those horns kick in!), finished setting up new campgrounds for your alts, and finally have logged in, you’ll probably be good and ready to head to Undermine for some explosive Goblin action. But wait: how do you get to Undermine? It turns out the answer is not complex, but you may have missed it because it’s way more low-key than prior expansions.

The beginning of your trip to Undermine is a quest called When Opportunity Explodes, whose only requirement is that you finished the 70-80 leveling campaign in The War Within (so none of the level cap things so far are required — the post-80 campaign, Siren Isle, Fate of the Kirin Tor, the little quest chain with Orweyna that foreshadows this expansion, none of it). If for some reason you didn’t get it, you can find Renzik the Shiv in Founder’s Hall in Dornogal. However, check your quest log: there’s a very good chance you received it on log in, completely unnoticed! Unlike most patch breadcrumb quests that get inserted into your quest log, which are usually heralded by a talking head calling you “champion” and telling you where to go, this one just kind of slid into your inbox. Not very Goblin-y, if you ask me.

That quest chain will take you down to figure out what the Goblins were doing behind that rock wall in the southeast corner of the Ringing Deeps. The last quest in that chain, Down Undermine, will send you to Slam Central Station in Undermine; once you’re there, you can talk to Rustol right across the street for the quest Test Run, which opens up a teleport back to Dornogal — and once you have that link established, it’s open for your whole Warband to go visit the big city!
