Another long (but not quite as long) Tuesday maintenance for WoW players — all servers now back online!

Tuesday means maintenance day, and this week The War Within players again have extended maintenance to look forward to, while Classic players have a quick hour of downtime. WoW patch 11.1 launched last week, and this week The War Within Season 2 starts when the servers come back online, which could be cause of the extra downtime. But Blizzard may also need to address some bugs that arrived with the patch, such as Warband issues which prevent currency from being transferred. It would be nice to have that working again… but after the servers came back up, Warband currency transfers still appear to be unavailable.
All WoW servers are now back online!
Here’s this week’s maintenance schedule:
- The War Within servers will be offline from 7am –
11am12pm pacific (10am –2pm3pm eastern) - WoW Classic servers (including Cataclysm, Season of Discovery, Anniversary, Hardcore, and Classic Era realms) were offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern), but are now back online. Authentication servers had some issues this, which made it hard for some players to log on post-maintenance, but these seem to be resolved now.
The good news is that the servers won’t be back down into evening (as they were last week for east coast gamers), so assuming the servers are stable your Tuesday night raid will be good to go. I am betting servers will come back up on time, because Blizzard’s track record has been pretty good recently, but I’m not putting any money down on server stability.
When The War Within servers come back up, a lot of new content will be available:
- Normal, Heroic, and Mythic Liberation of Undermine raid.
- Raid Finder Wing 1 (Shock and Awesome), featuring Cauldron of Carnage and Rik Reverb.
- New World Boss The Gobfather in Undermine.
- The continuation of the Undermine story quest.
- Mythic+ Season 2, with its brand new and changed dungeon pool, which includes TWW launch dungeons Cinderbrew Meadery, The Rookery, Priory of the Sacred Flame, Darkflame Cleft; throwback dungeons Theater of Pain (Shadowlands), The MOTHERLODE! (Battle for Azeroth), and Operation Mechagon: Workshop (Battle for Azeroth); and brand new dungeon Operation Floodgate.
- PVP Season 2, with a new arena, the Cage of Carnage!
- Delves Season 2, featuring lots of changes — including two all-new Delves!
- This is also very likely when the Matrix Catalyst in Dornogal will open, allowing you to start converting Season 2 gear into your brand new tier sets.
If you need something to kill time while waiting for the servers to come up, might I suggest taking a gander at this humble opossum? Or if it’s other video games you’re after, last week we had a lot of great new releases, including Monster Hunter: Wilds, and Epic’s free game of the week, Mages of Mystralia, is still free. Or if you’re looking for something smaller scale, check out Steam’s visual novel sale this week, which includes I Was a Teenage Exocolonist, a game I highly recommend. It will, however, take you more than one four hour maintenance to play any of these games.
Servers are back online now, so you can jump into the game any time you want!
