The Hunt Begins with an animated short for Freja before she joins the Overwatch roster

Ahead of Freja’s trial weekend (March 21-24), the Overwatch team treated us to a short animation showcasing the bounty hunter in action. Rapid fire action courtesy of her crossbows is the highlight of this short, but as usual the small story bits dropped have piqued our interest and make us want more.

At this point I’d be okay with Overwatch 2 quietly shutting down if it meant I’d be able to get a full Netflix animated series in the Overwatch universe. Especially with all that foreshadowing — who is Freja’s next target, and why does Maximillian want him taken out? And I’m still wondering what made her decide to stop working search and rescue with Overwatch in order to become a bounty hunter for hire.

We’ll probably find out sometime in 2028 because we can’t expect a rapid-fire FPS to have a ton of exposition. But, a Netflix animated series…
