This week’s free games on the Epic Games Store are Cat Quest and Neko Ghost, Jump!

This week’s Epic Games Store free offering is two games, both of which involve a ton of action, a send-up of a popular genre, and a cat protagonist.

  • DLC: none, but sequel Cat Quest 2 is available on Epic (and was free in May 2024), and Cat Quest 3 is available on Steam.

Cat Quest is often described as “Diablo, but Cats,” and that’s fairly accurate. While, obviously, the story doesn’t involve ramming soul shards into body parts or hell or whatever, and the systems aren’t quite as robust, the gameplay and perspective make this a great game if you’re looking for a more wholesome jumping off point in the ARPG genre.

• Neko Ghost, Jump!

  • Game Type: Platformer
  • POV: 3rd person, swaps between 2D and 3D
  • Party: Single player
  • DLC: none

Speaking of wholesome jumping off points, Neko Ghost, Jump has a lot in common with old-school platformers, but with a twist. You swap between 2D and 3D gameplay, and regular Neko and ghost Neko to solve puzzles in alternate spaces and ways — it’s reminiscent of some of the Paper Mario titles.

Both these titles are available until April 3, when a new game will be free. Next week’s is another mystery game, but with a similar cat-themed obscuring image, so we’re going to guess it’ll feature more felines.
