This week’s Epic Games Store free game is Botanicula

Botanicula is an adorable little puzzle game where you play as five different little tree guys trying to save a seed from a parasite that threatens their idyllic forest home, and it’s this week’s free game on the Epic Games Store.

They had me at “play as five little tree guys,” and if you aren’t hooked by that — or the price tag — this probably won’t be the game for you. It’s a charming little puzzler fraught with danger, but a cozy and lighthearted aesthetic, from the whimsical art style to the music.

It’s interesting that this is showing up on the freebie list immediately following the conclusion of a successful fundraiser and massive sale by the developer, Amanita Design, to raise money for Ukraine. However, this also provides an opportunity to help them out by leaving a review, since all their games were heavily reviewbombed during that promotion.

There’s also an additional promotion this week for the free game Firestone Online Idle RPG, giving you $100 worth of chests and currencies, and an exclusive skin for hero Boris, “The Legendary Hopelite.”
