Thursday morning maintenance hits The War Within servers this week, but servers now back online!

It’s Tuesday Thursday maintenance day, and The War Within servers were scheduled for a quick one-hour downtime, which has been extended for an extra hour. It’s certainly not the norm to have Thursday maintenance, but modern WoW servers have had a few issues since the launch of patch 11.1.5 on Tuesday, so there’s a fair chance maintenance will roll out a small bug fix patch or do some other necessary work to get things running smoothly.

Though patch 11.1.5 has plenty of content, the majority of it is events with staggered start dates. The headliner of the patch was the Nightfall event in Hallowfall, in which the Arathi fight back the remnants of Ansurek’s void-infused forces — while you earn fabulous prizes, including cosmetics and gear. But the event seems to be buggy; not always launching at its start time (at the top of the hour) or progressing properly. It’s been a rough experience for what was supposed to be the highlight of the patch.

Today’s maintenance runs from 7am – 8am 9am pacific (10am – 11am 12pm eastern). The War Within servers are now back online.

Hopefully the Nightfall event was addressed during this maintenance, and will be easier (or possible) to do when the servers come back up — we’ll have to see a few rounds of the event in action to see how well it’s working now, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ll see you in Hallowfall!
