Get in gamers, we’re going back to The Broken Isles in Legion Remix

Mists of Pandaria Remix was a blast to play, and as soon as it ended all of us were wondering what expansion would get the Remix treatment next. Now we know: at PAX East, Blizzard announced Legion Remix, giving us a chance to go back to this fan-favorite expansion, again or for the first time. Details are still light, but we should expect a similar experience to Mists Remix, with a selection of wild powers to collect and cosmetics to buy. But at PAX, Jeremy Feasel did give us a couple of tidbits on new features that will be in the latest Remix.
Legion was the expansion that added Mythic Keystones, and they’ll be a focus in Legion Remix as well. You’ll be able to do Legion Mythics, but with crazy remix powers and wild item scaling. Feasel explained that they’re looking forward to players “figuring out how to completely break that game,” so look forward to a different kind of Mythic experience.
Mists Remix was inspired by Diablo 3 seasons, which encouraged players to revisit the same game content, but with new powers, abilities, or challenges: Legion Remix is taking even more inspiration from Diablo by adding additional world difficulty levels along the lines of Diablo’s World Tiers. In Legion, this will be the Shattered Timeline, an alternate timeline where everything went worse and everything is significantly more challenging. I really enjoy the ability to fine-tune difficulty to the level of challenge that’s fun for you (and your current character) in Diablo, but I wonder how well this will map over to Warcraft. Part of the fun in Mists Remix was just overpowering everything in our path, but perhaps if that gets old we’ll want to visit the Shattered Timeline and help out over there. (Sounds like they need it.)
But Legion Remix is still a work in progress. There are no details on specifics of the power system this Remix will offer, or how the expansion’s focus on Artifact weapons might work. (Will we collect Artifacts and appearances and power them up all over again? Will we be able to earn new Artifact cosmetics?) Whatever Blizzard is planning, some kind of throwback to Artifact Power would fit the expansion’s theme neatly. We also don’t know anything about the cosmetics that might be in Legion Remix, but if it’s anything like Mists Remix it will involve a wide collection of recolors to buy with a Remix-specific currency.
There are no details on a release window, either, I’d guess it will launch late in The War Within, to give players something to do while waiting for Midnight — which probably pins it in late 2025. We’ll update this post when we learn more about Legion Remix — and I look forward to seeing all of you on The Broken Isles.
