What should you play this weekend? Elden Ring: Nightreign, CraftCraft, and Grandma, No! are our focus this week in games!

Somehow, May has ended and June is… this weekend? That’s not right is it? We’ve made it through the fifth month of 2025, so let’s celebrate with some new video games! First up this week, we’ve got the much anticipated multiplayer Souls-like Elden Ring: Nightreign, work alongside your pet owlcat to craft magical items for others in CraftCraft, I don’t even know how to describe what’s going on in Grandma, No!, and finally I want to point out that one of my favorite building games is on sale this weekend (which is Dragon Quest Builders 2).

You Died: Elden Ring: Nightreign

If you’ve been paying any attention to the online gaming space over the last few years, a few things should stand out: Fortnite is still as popular as ever and Elden Ring took the world by storm when it released in 2022. So what would happen if you got your Fortnite in my Elden Ring? Well, Nightreign is sort of the answer to that question. Taking the formula from Fortnite where you have to work your way across a map while circles slowly close off parts of the world to you, leaving you in smaller and smaller fighting arenas, Nightreign has you picking one of eight different characters and hurtling yourself through The Lands Between to try and rack up levels and defeat bosses before time runs out or you get stuck in the storm. Reviews so far are mixed, mostly due to the lack of decent single player and no two-player support (the game is either unbalanced solo play, or requires a team of three, with no voice comms and no cross-play); yet FromSoftware might be able to turn this around post-launch. I know I already picked up my copy!

Get Elden Ring: Nightreign for $40 on Steam.

Who names these things?: CraftCraft

CraftCraft is one of those cozy games that managed to catch my eye, which doesn’t always happen! You get to create your character and decide if you want to be a blacksmith or a jeweler, then you open a shop and begin to make neat things for those who come in to see your wares! Let’s step back to creating a character though: did you ever want to be the Mothman? You totally can live out that fantasy here (though unfortunately you’re not as thick as the real deal). Create a trash tiara for the raccoon princess, a sword made from dragon’s blood, or other bits and bobs while you learn more about your customers in this fully voice acted title.

Get CraftCraft for $14 on Steam.

Oh, no!: Grandma, No!

Grandma, No! reminds me a bit of Octodad, where the game just looks like absolute insanity from the jump. That seems to be the goal of developer WALLRIDE, which has created a game where you’re a grandma who clearly has no idea what’s going on, and havoc ensues. Time to take out the trash? Let’s go! … Why are there grenades? And vomiting wildlife? Somehow there’s now a room full of eyeballs but also there’s a dog that needs to be petted and we might as well order a pizza while we’re at it. I’m vaguely reminded of Ren and Stimpy while at the same time, I have zero clue what’s really going on in this game. Anna Bell, why?

Get Grandma, No! for $12 on Steam.

Bonus Sale: Dragon Quest Builders 2

While not new, Dragon Quest Builders 2 takes on the formula of a Dragon Quest title while also being a nice, fun 2D builder game too — and, it just so happens to be a title that drew me in and didn’t let go until the credits rolled hours later. Taking place after Dragon Quest 2 (though knowledge of the plot of that game isn’t necessary, trust me), you play as a character who is a builder: someone who has the power to create and bring joy — and as such, the builders have been gathered by the evil forces of the world to be dealt with. Of course, you find yourself soon awakening on a beach and need to begin using your building skills to survive. Using Akira Toriyama’s well known art style, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a very good looking game, with some great humor and a fun cast of characters, and I highly recommend it for $25.

Get Dragon Quest Builders 2 for $25 on Steam.
