Watch turtles and lizards hangin out (nominally marketing for Hearthstone’s Lost City of Un’Goro, but come on)

Mark your calendar for June 13 at 9:30 am PT because the Hearthstone team is pitting real turtles and lizards against each other in a race to promote their upcoming expansion, Lost City of Un’Goro. Turtles are on hand to represent the Tortollans of that expansion, and lizards are meant to represent the dinosaurs that run wild through the crater. If that seems a little bit of a lopsided competition — turtles not exactly being known for their speed — be assured that the races also include an eating competition, so the turtles will have at least one race in the bag. Unfortunately, they’ll also have a regular foot race and a climbing race, so smart money is definitely on Team Lizard.
This is just one of several upcoming streamed events to celebrate Lost City of Un’Goro. There is also a much more serious stream theorycrafting through the new cards with expert Hearthstone players designing decks and playing against each other on June 26 at 9 am PT (with times varying per region), and a 4-team 2v2 tournament hosted by Rarran on June 28 at 10 PT. The usual pre-release Tavern Brawl will also allow the community to mess around with the new cards before they can slice open their card packs. All these streams –including the reptile vs reptile stream — will also give Twitch Drops, granting Lost City of Un’Goro packs, culminating in a huge event July 1-6, with even more freebie packs to grab.
However, even non-Hearthstone fans can get in on the fun reptilian action. As a Battlegrounds-only girly I can truly appreciate this inclusion — theorycrafting is well and good but everyone loves watching animals cavort around being animals. I don’t have high hopes for their speediness, I’ll be rooting for Team Turtle out of slowpoke solidarity, while earning card packs I probably won’t open.
