The fish tanks of World of Warcraft, ranked

A new feature, coming Soon (TM) in Midnight, is player housing, there has been a lot of speculation on what sort of items will be made available to use in our customizable spaces. Water features have been a commonly requested item, so we decided to find all the fish tanks and aquariums we could already scattered around the World of Warcraft. Tell us in the comments if there’s any we missed.

7. Deeprun Tram Aquarium

The OG fish tank, but likely to be far too large for any possible version of player housing is the Deep Run Tram aquarium, located in the mid point between Ironforge and Stormwind.

Be sure to keep an eye open for Nessie who lurks around and pops into view from time to time, but vanishes if you get too close.

6. Aquarium of Wonders

Located in Suramar, this tank is part of the menagerie.  If visiting, be sure to time your visit with the guided tour.

DID YOU KNOW? Lion Seals are named for their fearsome roar, similar to that of the common Land Lion. We believe that their captivity has made them shy, however, so they no longer roar.

5. Unkept Aquarium

This tank is located in the Zskera Vaults. If you’re lucky this room will spawn.

Cleanse the tanks and you will be offered a fishy battle pet friend.

4. Dalaran Pet Trainer — First Tank

The Dalaran pet trainer store has multiple tanks in the room, the first tank has a frenzy fish and a treasure chest that is suspiciously mimic like.

3. Dalaran Pet Trainer — Second Tank

Located opposite the other tank, for some reason this tank has a gnome diver permanently hanging out. I hope he can leave if he chooses.

2. The Gallagio Casino

This massive tank is also highly unlikely to ever be made available in any player housing due to the size, but it is one of the few tanks you can enter, at least briefly. Note, if you enter the tank as a druid and shapeshifter to aquatic form, you will drop to the bottom of the tank like a stone and die.

1. Boralus Harbor Cat Lady’s House

Located in Catherine Morgan‘s house in Boralus, this tank isn’t as well known by many players, but it contains a special secret – clicking on Pepe hiding in the tank awards you with A Tiny Diving Helmet for your Pepe toy.

Bonus Items

While hunting for these I was reminded there are multiple aquatic school pets that float in water bubbles — maybe we could get one or more of these we could use as decorations. Or the Hyper-Compressed Ocean which you can use as a portable fishing pool.
