The only new 11.2 content from The War Within that I care about is fel capybaras
The War Within’s upcoming patch 11.2 brings us the second major batch of content added to the expansion, with the only truly consequential bit being the ability to acquire my very own demonic rodent of unusual size.
As is typical for PTR season for a major patch, details on cool stuff trickle out in the form of datamined models and text. This batch of newfound battle pets includes adorable little versions of some of our favorite past Outland pets such as beholders and rays, a whole host of creepy-crawlies, and several thorntails. These fluffy fox-like creatures have been prominent in the promotional shots for the upcoming Ecological Succession feature, and they definitely strain the needle on the cuteness meter.
With all that out of the way, the very clear winner is the capybara lineup. The fur options found so far include fel green, void magenta, a vivid blue reminiscent of Ardenweald, and a fiery red-orange. Capybaras are the largest rodent in the world, capable of weighing in at over 200 pounds. They are semi-aquatic, making them a little bit like the small furry hippos of the western hemisphere. You can read more about them as well as enjoy a baby capybara frolicking in its food bowl in our coverage of Tupi’s birth at the San Diego Zoo.
While we have had the ability to adventure alongside our very own capybara since Battle for Azeroth gave us a few different snooters to collect on Mechagon, the addition of demonic horned versions is sure to help us match our battle pet companion with the look and vibe of a lot of the upcoming void-stuffed content. Right now these fel rodents are marked as Trading Post acquisitions, so stay tuned for the ability to add them to your collection sometime later this summer or fall.
