Wildgate is now live, and Moonshot Games has already revealed what’s coming next with a 2025 roadmap

Wildgate, the team PVP vehicle extraction shooter/battle royale hybrid from Moonshot Games and Dreamhaven Studios, is now live! Ahead of its launch Moonshot published a roadmap detailing the post-launch plan for the rest of 2025 to give us an idea of what’s coming next for the title. Normally, roadmaps come after a major launch (World of Warcraft) or in response to major player requests for communication, and Wildgate’s roadmap is detailed enough so players know what to expect, though the when is the part that is kind of up in the air.

If Wildgate is on your radar of games try, or you’re just curious about what ex-Blizzard devs are up to, this is what’s on the roadmap for the rest of year.

What to expect now that Wildgate is live

Thanks in part to the feedback provided during the playtests, when Wildgate launches players can expect the following changes during the launch window:

  • Balance updates and quality of life changes — Broad levels of tuning include certain prospectors getting nerfed, matchmaking improvements, and language localizations.
  • Scrap crates — Throughout the Reach players can find scrap crates which reward them and their crew with 500 XP and a random, new cosmetic item that can be used after the current match ends. Once all cosmetic items have been found, players will continue to receive the 500 XP only.
  • Two new additions to player card customizations: titles and infamy — Titles are unlocked by completing in-game achievements and milestones. Infamy is a points system based on your overall win-loss record in a month. You gain points for winning a match, points are deducted in a loss, and then the board is cleared at the end of the month.
  • New cosmetics to celebrate the game’s launch — Sources include Twitch Drops, logging in to Wildgate, signing up for a Dreamhaven account, and completing rewards tracks.

Wildgate’s post-launch plan for 2025

Wildgate’s post-launch plan is broken in to three categories: bi-weekly updates, mid-season patches, and seasonal content drops. Each category focuses on a specific aspect of game support or gameplay and has a timeframe that the Moonshot wants to establish for a cadence that players can expect, with a little bit of wiggle room for some more than others.

Bi-weekly updates

A few weeks after launch, Wildgate will begin cycling in new Reach anomalies. These anomalies are different game mechanics that include new environmental hazards to navigate, new points of interest, and new upgrades. Once the first set goes live, new anomalies will cycle in roughly every two weeks. On this same schedule, the in-game store will be refreshed with new cosmetics (prospector skins and different ship designs) and urgent hotfixes will be rolled out. For the cosmetics, there will be individual and bundle items available for sale using an in-game currency called “credits” that can be purchased with real world currency. Most items and bundles will be valued between $5 USD to $15 USD and Moonshot has stated their goal is to ensure players are not forced to buy more credits than they actually need to get their preferred items.

Mid-season patches

Mid-season patches are the one category with no established recurrence and that is because these patches will be rolled out based on player feedback and developer monitoring regarding the state of the game as it relates to system optimization and performance, balance updates tuning to player feedback, bug fixes, and other quality-of-life adjustments.

Seasonal content drops

At the moment, Wildgate will have three seasonal content drops per year, about one every four months. Each season will have a new narrative theme and associated story beats that fit alongside gameplay, new loot, new anomalies and hazards, points of interest to explore, and other things that haven’t been revealed just yet. Each season will also have two earnable track rewards, Adventures and Adventure Pass, that progress by earning in-game experience.

Adventures is the base version of the rewards track and will be free for all players and includes rewards like prospectors, weapons, ships, and upgrades. The Adventure Pass is an optional, purchasable upgrade that has additional cosmetics rewards on the track. While there isn’t a price available yet for the Adventure Pass, it’s important to point out that both aren’t time gated — all previous Adventures and Adventure Passes will be available to complete at your preferred pace.

Rounding out the roadmap is a sneak peek of what Moonshot has planned for Wildgate in the far future, teasing the development of more seasonal content, more cosmetics, and more ways for players to engage with their friends, including custom lobbies and competitive play. These are items are more in the background as there is still the initial launch to get through first, but once we have more information from Moonshot about the future of Wildgate, we’ll let you know!
