Servers are up after a long maintenance for WoW patch 11.2 (with shorter maintenance for Classic)
WoW patch 11.2 is rolling out today on modern realms, and that means downtime for many players. The War Within servers will be down all day, with downtime projected until 3pm pacific (6pm eastern) but servers are up now, a bit early, and stable. Well, relatively — let’s be realistic in our patch day expectations. Classic realms also have some maintenance, with Mists of Pandaria realms scheduled to be offline for two hours and other Classic realms offline for just an hour.
So if you’re looking for something to do today, there’s always Classic, waiting for you to come home. But if you’re resisting that siren song, here are the details on this week’s maintenance.
Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, August 5:
- The War Within: Offline from 7am – 3pm pacific (10am – 6pm eastern)
- Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)
- WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
Patch 11.2 is a big one, and on top of sending us adventurers into K’aresh, it also overhauls how banks work in retail WoW. Instead of the current system in which you own a number of bag slots that comprise your storage space, the new banks will be a tabbed system like the Warband Bank. Each tab has 98 slots of storage, and six tabs are available for purchase (and will be fully unlocked for level 80 characters). If you had the biggest available bags, you’ll now have about twice the storage. If you didn’t shell out for the absolute largest bags, you’ll have even more. It’s a good quality of life change, but if anything goes amiss in the patch 11.2 rollout, my bet is on banks.
But you probably don’t want to read about the technical details; you want to hear about the awesome things we’ll be doing in K’aresh. Here’s our overview of what’s new in WoW patch 11.2, though you’ll probably finish reading well before the servers are back online.
I’ll keep you up to date right here on what’s going on with today’s maintenance: whether that means the servers are up early, on time, or we have an eight hour emergency maintenance again tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
