Embrace the Infernal Chaos in Diablo 4 Season 10, now live!

Hey Diablo 4 players, we heard you liked chaos in Sanctuary, so we’re bringing some more chaos to Sanctuary. That’s basically the sum of what the developers have packed into Season 10, the Season of Infernal Chaos. But chaos (even Infernal Chaos) is pretty broad for a seasonal theme, so here’s what is scoped under said chaos — both chaotic bonuses and chaotic events — and you can jump in and play right now.

The only certainty is that nothing is certain. No entity is free from Chaos’s grasp—human, Horadrim, Angel, or Demon. All dance in its path, so rather than succumb to its erratic forces, harness this untapped power for yourself.

Here’s what you need to know about the game’s latest season.

Diablo 4 Season 10 Chaos Perks -- Chaotic Grenades Rogue Power

Season 10 adds Chaos Perks and Chaos Armor for unique power boosts

The bonuses come in two flavors: Chaos Perks and Chaos Armor. Chaos Perks are the power system of the season, and interestingly there are powers that are both general and class-specific. Chaos Perks themselves alter how your skills function, meaning you’re manipulating your actual build for your power boost. The system allows you to pick three non-Unique Perks and one Unique Perk from a pool of 16 — four of each rarity (Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique), where each rarity has one class-specific perk in addition to general powers.

Now, it doesn’t sound like much, but that option pool works out to 880 combinations for each class. The Unique powers are definitely powerful, but have unique twists to them that embrace the chaotic challenge nature. And like past seasons, there will be a currency system involved to power them up along the way.

Conversely, Chaos Armor involves a change-up with existing gear. Chaos Armor draws from the current Unique items pool and gives it “a diabolical twist.” These pieces are more powerful than their original counterparts — so much so that they also always appear at maximum power and are guaranteed to have at least one Greater affix —  but they have some caveats:

  1. They can only appear for armor slots Helm, Chest, Gloves, Pants, and Boots.
  2. They will only show up as an item fit for anything other than its original slot (so no super juiced up Flickerstep boots — it’ll be in one of the other four slots).
  3. You cannot equip the same Unique between Chaos and normal versions. Pick one.

These pieces are always distinct from their unique counterparts. They will have a green border and green text to make them stand out on drop. The best source of Chaos Armor is Bartuc — kill him in Torment 3 or 4 for guaranteed drops, and Torment 1 or 2 for a chance at getting them to drop. However, Blizzard does state Chaos Armor can be earned from “many sources across the game,” so keep your eyes peeled.

However, turning the system on its head has its advantages! Always wanted to have both Flickerstep and Penitent Greaves equipped at the same time? Now you can, with a Flickerstep Chaos Unique drop equipped in another slot. This unlocks tons of potential combos.

But what gear options will you have? The following Uniques will be available as Chaos Armor:

Diablo 4 Season 10 Chaos Rift Portals in Infernal Hordes

Infernal Hordes receives a system glow-up

No season would be complete without a rework to an existing system that applies to both the seasonal and Eternal servers — this season’s target is the Infernal Hordes, as included on the 2025 roadmap. Infernal Hordes will be “hotter than ever” now, as Blizzard has reworked the offerings system you interact with between phases, balancing some effects and completely altering others. You’ll also start your Infernal Hordes run with an Infernal Offering, giving you a launch off point for powering your run. Additionally, the Fell Council you fight at the end has received a buff — each run, one of the Council members is promoted to be Council Speaker with enhanced abilities you need to navigate in that final fight.

A new monster family also joins the playing field of Infernal Hordes. The new Chaos Monster family actually has more than just experience as a benefit — they provide a “powerful, shrine-like buff” on death. This is particularly special because shrines and pylons have never been a part of the Infernal Hordes — the only buffs through these timed events came from the Infernal Offerings.

As a nod to the monotony of the leveling process, the devs are introducing a “warming version” of the Infernal Hordes challenge to tackle earlier on. This modified version, known as the Fleeting Hordes, is available in the pre-Torment difficulty tiers. They’re a very similar experience though — you’ll fight a fixed four waves, with a limited pool of Infernal Offerings available to choose from in between waves “to keep the packs of Vicious Goblins under control.” The final challenge is similarly slimmed down, where you tackle only two Fell Council members to hopefully succeed and spend your Aether on rewards. Truthfully, this will provide an interesting alternative to grinding materials — presuming the challenge isn’t too significant.

Diablo 4 Season 10 Infernal Hordes end boss Bartuc the Warlord of Chaos

Chaos is sprinkled into Infernal Hordes with a new wave type and final boss

As part of the Infernal Hordes, you’ll receive the occasional option to select a Chaos Wave from your Infernal Offerings choices. Chaos Waves are an altered version of the next wave you encounter with increased difficulty, “imbuing havoc and intense challenge” with a variety of combinations — rampaging Hellwyrms, erratic Aether Goblins, or bullet-hell style projectiles just to name a few. On the up side, they will reward you “far more Aether” for successfully surviving the challenge.

There’s also a new challenger joining as an alternative Infernal Horde ending encounter. Instead of tackling the (now-juiced) Fell Council, you can opt to square off against a reborn Vizjerei Warlord. Fighting Bartuc has some interesting requirements just to get started — each party member will have to spend Aether just to tackle him, but the first player who chooses sets the decision for the whole party, so maybe discuss it first, yeah?

Bartuc, the Warlord of Chaos, leverages Chaos Portals to shoot projectiles at the player or party locations — it’s on you to master this and enter the Chaos Portal to gain the upper hand. But luckily, rewards appear once you’ve defeated him because you spent your hard-earned aether to summon this BBEG. So it’s a trade-off!

Diablo 4 Season 10 Nightmare Dungeon Chaos Rift

Chaos is not limited to the Infernal Hordes

Thought chaos would be restricted to the Infernal Hordes? Surely, you jest! Instead, look for the new Chaos Rifts opening portals within the Helltide. These portals are actually an entrance, accessible once you kill the demons pouring out of them. Seal them away for a “great source of chaotic loot,” rewarding Chaos Armor in the Torment tiers as well as additional experience and gems.

But there are variations available. In Torment tier, you can run across Mythic versions of these, which presumably present additional challenge for even better rewards. Alternatively, there will be a “Chaos Rift” option for nightmare dungeons. Like other dungeon affixes, these will be broadly populated with Chaos Rifts. Farm through them for “bountiful sources of Fleeting Hordes Compasses” and other comparable rewards to their Helltide counterparts.

If it sounds like a lot — it is! But it’s pretty straightforward in play, which you can experience: Diablo 4 Season 10 is now live and ready for you to embrace the chaos. See you in Sanctuary!
