Fallout TV series returns (with big iron on its hip) for Season 2, due out in December
In the midst of Gamescom Opening Night Live, we were given our first look at season two of the postapocalyptic series Fallout (which is also coincidentally one of our favorite video games). Picking up where season one ended, Lucy, Maximus, The Ghoul, and Dogmeat have entered one of the most legendary locations of the Fallout games: New Vegas.
While hard information about the series is as scarce as radaway in the Glowing Sea, what we can see is more of Cooper Howard/The Ghoul’s backstory, including meeting with the king of New Vegas himself: Robert House, played here by Justin Theroux, who is filling the shoes left behind by the great René Auberjonois who played Mr. House in Fallout New Vegas in 2010. We also get glimpses of Cooper’s time in Anchorage in the war before the bombs fell. The story continues to unfold in both the past and the present, and speaking of the present, we see such iconic locations as the Lucky 38 casino and the town of NoVac with its roadside T-Rex sniper location.

What’s really interesting is we see both Caesar’s Legion and Victor the Securitron in this trailer. One of the biggest questions at the end of season one of Fallout — a question even before the season ended, really — was what was happening in New Vegas, as the game itself had many possible endings that could vastly change the powers in play. The show revealed the NCR fell with the destruction of Shady Sands, which was a possible ending of Fallout New Vegas. Seeing the Legion still active in this trailer has some scary implications.

We are still four months away from more Fallout, which launches on December 17. But all of that time gives you (and us) plenty of time to speculate, re-watch season one, and replay Fallout New Vegas (once or twice). There is also always the hope that, as with Elder Scrolls Oblivion was earlier this year, Bethesda can stealth release a remaster the classic video game to be playable on modern machines without needing to resort to mods.
Fallout is available on Amazon Prime Video if you want to binge watch season 1 before season 2 comes out, just in time for Christmas.
