How to hit Gold in every race in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup

A closeup of a dragonrider on a bronze dragon.

The Eastern Kingdoms Cup is upon us once again! Starting at 1am pacific time on August 26, 2025 and lasting through September 8, you will once again have the opportunity to earn titles, transmog, and more from this exciting Skyriding cup in World of Warcraft. As always, the vendor will appear only while the Cup is active, so don’t forget to grab your rewards before she vanishes again. You should also pick up the quest from Andestrasz for a few extra Riders of Azeroth badges.

/way #2112 27.0 47.6 Maztha (vendor)
/way #2112 27.0 47.2 Lord Andestrasz (Valdrakken)
/way #85 52.2 59.8 Lord Andestrasz (Orgrimmar)
/way #84 60.0 66.0 Lord Andestrasz (Stormwind)

As I mentioned during the Kalimdor Cup, it’s always best to start with some hand and arm stretches, make sure your posture is correct, and avoid tensing your muscles as you race. If you’re new to racing or have just started a new alt, you may also need to make sure your Skyriding abilities are placed properly on your Skyriding bar. Now strap in and make sure to stay hydrated, because we only have two weeks to claim the gold!

Here’s how to win every race in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup.

Plaguelands Plunge

Type: Agility, Puzzle

A relatively tricky course, the Plaguelands Plunge will have you careening through a forest of giant mushrooms, sere mountains, and some creepy Scourge architecture — all while dodging purple orbs which will stun you if you get too close. If you’re at your wits’ end, my video guide has a few tips on how to solve this puzzle.

/way #23 34.86 37.88 Plaguelands Plunge

Gilneas Gambit

Type: Vigor conservation, Agility

With long straightaways and tricky climbs, the Gilneas Gambit will test your ability to squeeze out every drop of speed from the Vigor charges you are given. Make sure to coast when possible, spend Vigor in pairs on the straightaways, and keep your angle steep when using Skyward Ascent to climb.

/way #217 58.76 11.22 Gilneas Gambit

Krazzworks Klash

Type: Agility

The Krazzworks Klash is another course which will test your mastery of Skyward Ascent, as well as your ability to squeeze between goblin-sized gaps in the architecture. Fortunately they’ve given you a few extra seconds to play with in case you can’t seem to dodge that zeppelin.

/way #241 72.83 27.86 Krazzworks Klash

Twilight Terror

Type: Memorization, Agility

One of the longest courses in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup, the Twilight Terror also has some of the steepest ascents and descents of any Skyriding race in the game. Visibility through this course is mostly only a problem on the tower, but there are a handful of obstacles which you won’t spot until it’s too late. Take a sneak peek at them in my video if you want to avoid repeating this course a dozen times.

Note: Alliance players appear to get flagged for PVP while doing courses in this zone.

/way #241 34.77 77.92 Twilight Terror

Loch Modan Loop

Type: Vigor conservation

Up and down seems to be the name of the game for the Eastern Kingdoms Cup, because the Loch Modan Loop also has plenty. It is a fairly open course, however, made difficult only by the fiery slowdowns which are packed thickly throughout. Keep calm and hold onto a spare Vigor charge to deal with surprises, and you might just hit gold on your first run.

/way #48 46.77 13.92 Loch Modan Loop

Ironforge Interceptor

Type: Memorization, Agility, Puzzle

The Ironforge Interceptor is a challenging course, guaranteed to test your patience (and get Horde players flagged for PVP). Rest your hands between runs if you need to, especially remembering to take a break if your race time starts going down. My video tutorial should help you find a good rhythm, but you’re also going to need perseverance and a modicum of skill to claim the gold.

/way #27 74.23 33.98 Ironforge Interceptor

Searing Slalom

Type: Agility

I found the Searing Slalom to be a very fun course, with thrilling ups and downs and some turns which will make you giggle with glee as you pull them off. The main skill you’re going to need to complete it is what I call the “whip turn,” where you’re pressing Skyward Ascent just as you turn sharply to the left or right. Master that and this one’s in the bag.

/way #32 73.39 42.41 Searing Slalom

Fuselight Night Flight

Type: Agility, Memorization

The Fuselight Night Flight is a low-complexity course which nevertheless requires some fine motor skill when dodging slowdowns through its canyons. I recommend adjusting your mouse sensitivity if you are having trouble with the subtle back and forth I demonstrate in this video. Horde players should also be aware that you will knock the hats off several Alliance quest NPCs at the midpoint of this course, which they will no doubt reward by flagging you for PVP.

/way #15 67.04 37.03 Fuselight Night Flight

Redridge Rally

Type: Agility, Memorization

While far from the most difficult course in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup, the Redridge Rally is notable for its abundance of blind turns, and for the long, low stretch across the lake which will probably land you in the water at least once. Keep your nose high and mind the bridge, and it shouldn’t give you a great deal of trouble.

/way #49 40.78 25.22 Redridge Rally

Elwynn Forest Flash

Type: Memorization, Agility, Speed

If you’re looking for an easy gold, turn back now. The Elwynn Forest Flash is one of the most difficult courses in the Cup, both for its numerous blind turns through heavily forested terrain and its strict time requirements. You will likely have to run this course a dozen times to learn every bend, and it won’t be enough to simply miss the trees. Do yourself a favor and watch the tutorial video while you rest your wrists.

/way #37 64.72 48.89 Elwynn Forest Flash

Deadwind Derby

Type: Agility

The Deadwind Derby, while not the prettiest course in the Eastern Kingdoms Cup, is definitely one of the most interesting. Hairpin turns and rock bridges are mitigated by the lack of foliage to block your view, so while I wouldn’t call it straightforward, it shouldn’t give you much trouble. I believe in you!

/way #42 46.15 72.34 Deadwind Derby

Blasted Lands Bolt

Type: Speed

A fairly open course, the Blasted Lands Bolt is a great one if you like flying as fast as possible without having to dodge stuff. Keep that speed up and remember to spend your Vigor in pairs along the straightaways, and you probably won’t even need the video tutorial. (But here it is just in case!)

/way #17 62.78 26.10 Blasted Lands Bolt

Gurubashi Gala

Type: Agility

What the Gurubashi Gala lacks in visibility, it makes up for in brevity. Timing will be key in managing its difficult parts, so if you’re stuck you should definitely crib my homework on this one.

/way #50 70.07 26.47 Gurubashi Gala

Booty Bay Blast

Type: Agility, Vigor Conservation

A good mix of challenge types, the Booty Bay Blast made a satisfying capper to my last run through the Eastern Kingdoms Cup. This is also a good place for me to mention that if you’re having trouble completing races due to server lag or other performance issues, you can turn your graphics settings down while you race, or come back when the zone isn’t quite as busy.

/way #210 40.43 77.91 Booty Bay Blast

Good luck and happy racing!
