Battle of Polytopia, Ghostrunner 2, and Monument Valley 2 are this week’s Epic Games Store free games

This week Epic Games Store is giving away three games, including a great sequel making its debut on the Store today.

• Battle of Polytopia

  • DLC: There are several skin and tribe packs for purchase.

Battle of Polytopia is a Civ-like with a cutesy low-poly vibe. It has all the features of one of those turn-based strategy games, from a tech tree to battles, to all kinds of different victory conditions. There are monthly challenges, you can PVP or just play a campaign like Civ. It isn’t quite as in-depth as some of the other titles in the genre, but that makes it a perfect choice for playing long-distance with a younger cousin.

  • Game Type: FPS
  • POV: first person
  • Party: Single player
  • DLC: There are several DLC and packs for purchase.
  • This game was available for free in the 2024 advent calendar

A cyperpunk synthwave ninja slashes their way through a gritty cityscape with a katana. I’m not sure what more I could add that could be more compelling, to be honest.

• Monument Valley 2
  • Release Date: June 5, 2017
  • Game Type: puzzle, casual
  • POV: 3rd person
  • Party: Single player
  • DLC: none.

This sequel to last week’s free offering Monument Valley is appearing for the first time on the Epic Games Store today. The sequel is more of what you love about Monument Valley — chill, but mindbending puzzling in a low poly environment. There are still a couple more sequels to go, so we’ll see if Epic gives them away next week, too.
