Looking for deals on some of our favorite games on Black Friday? We’ve got some ideas.

As Thanksgiving ends, I just want to state that I’m thankful for our readers and for the rest of the team here at Blizzard Watch. I truly appreciate the support all of you have shown us (and me), so keep on rockin’ on.

Sappiness aside, the Black Friday deals started earlier this week, so there’s an awful lot on sale to wade through. However, since it’s also my birthday this weekend, you’re going to get Chris’s Top 4 picks for cool things to spend money on this weekend.

Cyberpunk 2077

I’ve been playing this for the last week or so, and it’s about all I think about in my spare time. Having had an extremely rocky release in 2020, CD PROJEKT RED has spent the last few years really working hard to properly polish the game, which I believe they’ve done. You play as V, a character that you create at the start of the game, who gets dragged into the criminal underworld of Night City, getting caught in a web of murder, mystery, backstabbery, and maybe some romance. You can also give your character preying mantis arm blades, if that moves the needle for you a little.

Get Cyberpunk 2077 for $21 (65% off) on Steam(You should really grab the Ultimate Edition for $39 so you get Phantom Liberty as well.)

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect may be my favorite RPG trilogy (with a continuous story), and if you haven’t played it and are into science fiction, you should definitely check it out. You’re Commander Shepard, a character that you create at the beginning of the game, whose life gets dragged into the criminal underworld of The Citadel, getting caught in a web of murder, mystery, backstabbery, and maybe some romance. You can not give your character preying mantis arm blades, in case that moves the needle in the other direction.

Jokes aside, if you haven’t played these games just know that Mass Effect 1 is pretty rough to play now, even with some of the quality of life things that were added in the Legendary Edition. It’s not that it’s bad, but the gameplay is clunky, there’s a menu within a menu for every other menu, and it really needs to be a remake sometime in the distant future. That said, you could just read a plot synopsis on the wiki and then start on Mass Effect 2, and I think you’d be fine.

Get Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $6 (90% off) on Steam.

Another Crab’s Treasure

I have been hunting for a game that I can suggest as something along the lines of “Baby’s First Soulslike,” and while this doesn’t quite hit the mark where I’d want it to be, it’s in a dang good spot. You play as Kril, a hermit crab who has his shell repossessed by a loan shark (which is literally a talking shark toy head on a stick), and off on an adventure to attempt to get your shell back you go. It’s very cute, colorful, and absolutely bizarre at the same time.

I will note, this game is not on sale. At least, not on Steam. But it’s my birthday and it’s a great game that deserves more attention, so here we are.

Get Another Crab’s Treasure for $30 on Steam

Outer Wilds

I want you to stop before you look into this game beyond the end of this sentence. You are better off knowing absolutely nothing about this when you go into it. You’re a little alien explorer who sets off from his home planet into the universe, and you have to explore. Pick a distance and go, find mysteries (and oh boy are there mysteries), dodge absolutely crazy weather, and have the time of your life. Only, I feel like we’ve done this before. Oh. Time loop mysteries occur.

Get Outer Wilds (Archaeologist Edition) for $23 (40% off) on Steam. (Trust me, you want the DLC on this one.)
