Meet some of the fauna of Razorwind Shores, the new Horde neighborhood for WoW player housing
The longest-awaited feature in World of Warcraft history, Player Housing, is here for players who have pre-ordered the Midnight expansion, and with these new zones come a new collection of Azeroth’s fauna. Let’s meet some of the beasts and critters of the new Horde player housing neighborhood, Razorwind Shores.

I was so incredibly excited when I discovered I had a fox on my new house’s property. I’ve always loved the foxes in WoW. They have just enough of a fantasy/otherworldly vibe about them, with their long ears and glowy green eyes, that they fit beautifully to me. This one occupies a small cluster of trees east of my house. I feel like I should give them a name, but unsure what yet… maybe Robin.

This little raccoon already created some mischief. Why else would they be running back and forth, if not to avoid getting caught? Do our WoW houses have security cameras, so I can catch this little one red-handed?

My house is located in The Bluffs, high mesas akin to regions occupied by the Tauren. And what would these plateaus be without some tallstriders to roam them? They’re part of the aesthetic, after all.

Speaking of the Tauren aesthetic, what would a Horde neighborhood be without a kodo or five roaming around? There are a variety, too — the friend I ran into for my screenshot was roaming around solo near The Bloom‘s main camp, but right across the road was a pen of domesticated kodo ready to transport supplies, with domesticated raptors and wolves as accompaniment. You can even catch a mother kodo and her calves if you skip on down to Runetotem’s Bounty North.

The fawns of the Cragthorn Highlands are, as with most young critters, truly adorable and are in the top five for the neighborhood’s cutest animals. Their little white spots and big eyes are mindblowingly cute. Sadly, their herds (which include does and the occasional stags as well) are exclusive to the Highlands biome, reflecting the forests of Azshara.

Well, I didn’t realize I would be coming across new animals but freshly added to the game (and exclusive to Razorwind Shores) are the pygmy hippos found along the waterway of Runetotem’s Bounty! Now, if you’re new around these parts, you may not know that we’re just a tiny bit obsessed with hippos, especially their pygmy hippo brethren. That said… sorry Blizzard, but Moo Deng is cuter. I don’t make the rules.

Wrapping up today’s visit to Razorwind Shores are the salamanders and salamander efts. These brightly colored lizards are found scattered around the waterways of the Horde neighborhood. Their desert cousins are found scattered around The Bloom and to the very north of Runetotem’s Bounty.
Friends, this is just a sampling of all the verdant life residing in the Horde neighborhood of Razorwind Shores. Tune back in next week as we visit the Alliance’s new home of Founder’s Point. Welcome home!
