Don’t miss the new Lorewalking chapter on Elves, which rewards a Silvermoon-themed decor item
It’s easy to overlook the other features that dropped with World of Warcraft’s patch 11.2.7 because Player Housing has taken up all of our playing time, but when you need a break from interior decorating you can spend some time with Lorewalker Cho brushing up on Elvish history in preparation for Midnight. Let’s take a spoiler-free look at the newest Lorewalking entry.
Given that our next adventure will see us revisiting the land of Quel’thalas, it is only natural that we would want a crash course on the history of the Blood Elves who call the region their home. Lorewalker Cho gives a brief intro on how the kingdom was established, and then you get to experience the tale of the Sunwell and Blood Elves through various quests, scenarios, and cut scenes. It will be super helpful for players wondering why Xal’atath seems intent on attacking Quel’thalas during the opening moments of Midnight.
The second half of the Lorewalking entry tells the story of the Void Elves. If you’re hungry for even more of the backstory of Alleria Windrunner, this chapter features her heavily while explaining how the Void Elves came to realize a power that had been sought after for many years. There are some familiar faces as well as some locations that we will definitely be revisiting in Midnight, so even players who are up on their recent allied race lore might want to dip into Lorewalking to refresh their memories.
The entire experience took me under an hour, and that’s with the constant distraction of my new house slowing me down. As always, any time spent with the magnificent Jim Cummings (Lorewalker Cho’s voice actor) is well spent. His narratives stitching the quests together are on point, both in content and delivery.
The reward for completing the Elves of Quel’thalas chapter of Lorewalking is the Tome of Silvermoon Intrigue, a red-and-gold bookmarked volume that fits perfectly in any Blood Elf-style office or reading nook. Once you have earned your first copy, additional books can be purchased from Lali the Assistant for the wallet-unfriendly price of 2,000g in Mists of Pandaria’s Vale of Eternal Blossoms. She is one of the keepers of lore that hangs out with Lorewalker Cho above Mogu’shan Palace.
