How to find the Pit of Artificers and the Tower in Diablo 4
The Diablo 4 Pit of Artificers (or Artificer’s Tier, Artificer’s Pit, or simply the Pit) and Tower are timed endgame dungeon activities similar to Diablo 3‘s Greater Rifts. The Pit is an essential component of endgame play, a 15-minute timed challenge with scaling difficulty (through 150 tiers) that rewards Paragon board improvements; conversely, the Tower (still in beta) is a leaderboard run system with similar gameplay on a shorter, 10 minute timer. You access both the Tower and the Pit from the same place: the Artificer’s Obelisk. If you’re trying to access either of these game modes, here’s exactly how to find the Pit and the Tower in Diablo 4.

The Pit and Tower’s Obelisk entrance is found in two locations as of Lord of Hatred. Teleport your character to Cerrigar in Scosglen or to Temis in Skovos. On the map (Scosglen’s is shown above), you should see an obelisk icon representing the Artificer’s Obelisk, which will activate a portal to the Pit. At that location in town is a metallic spire (the Artificer’s Obelisk); click to interact, and you receive the prompt to select a Pit tier for your run. Click Open after selecting your tier, and enter the portal — that’s it!
Each floor of any Obelisk-based run (Pit or Tower) uses random tilesets. Clearing the enemies within the timer fills your progress bar, ultimately opening the portal to the boss arena for you to slay. Once you’ve cleared that tier, the next three levels above are unlocked for your progression. For seasonal players, runs can be completed early based on selections in your endgame War Plans.
The Pit is available before max level on Seasonal servers, with Tier 10 as the base tier unlocked once you’ve completed the level 50 (Rank 2) Capstone Dungeon, Hellish Descent. Players on the Eternal realms will continue to access The Pit after hitting level 70. Similarly, Torment level difficulties all unlock after you complete that first Pit run.
For both Eternal and Seasonal, the Pit remains an essential activity for post-70 gameplay, serving as the mechanism for leveling paragon board glyphs. Progress through the tiers in the pursuit of the ultimate power source — a level 100, Legendary paragon glyph. Happy hunting!
