Today is a long WoW maintenance day for everybody, but all servers are now back online!

It’s Tuesday, and I’m afraid I have bad news, because all WoW servers are down for four hours of maintenance today. That’s a lot of maintenance on an otherwise uneventful week with no major patches or launches — Winter Veil starts in modern and Classic iterations this week, but that’s hardly something that needs serious downtime (particularly since it appears to have nothing new this year).

Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, December 16:

• The War Within: Offline from 7am – 11am pacific (10am – 2pm eastern)
• Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 11pm pacific (10am – 2pm eastern)
• WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 11am pacific (10am – 2pm eastern)

All WoW servers are back online!

Even though this was a long maintenance, all servers came back online over an hour early so we’re now good to dive back into Azeroth.

We’re working our way towards the end of the year, which tends to be a quiet season in game (excepting the annual visit from Smokywood Pastures). There are no patches or big events scheduled until mid-January, when The Burning Crusade Classic pre-patch launches on Anniversary realms and Legion Remix wraps up on modern realms. It’s a good time for us all to play catch-up in game — I certainly have plenty to do in Remix before it ends — and I suppose the WoW team is also using this otherwise slow time of year to catch up on maintenance. (But as usual, Blizzard hasn’t given any specific reason for the extra maintenance.)

Even though the wait is over, you could still settle in maybe with a nice warm beverage this afternoon.
