Bloons TD 6 is being given away for free this week on the Epic Games Store

This week the Epic Games Store is giving away another great game for free. This week’s game is a kid-friendly classic in a franchise hailing back to the Adobe Flash era.

If you’ve never played a Bloons game, you are in for a treat. Tower Defense is a classic game type that isn’t developed much anymore, but it provides a fun strategic pastime. You are given an array of stationary monkeys chucking various types of pointy things at balloons to pop them, as the balloons go down a (usually) pre-determined path. The objective is to avoid having any balloons reach the end intact. Some monkeys will give slows or poisons instead of regular pointy things, and some monkeys are built specifically to counter other balloon types, like explosions for swarm-type balloons or penetrating darts for metallic balloons.

Because it’s one of those games that’s easy to understand but has a decent amount of depth behind it, plus the cartoony art style and relatively non-violent objectives, this is also a great game for even younger kids — though it isn’t particularly enriching beyond fun, so watch that screen time. And especially watch that purchase history!
