It’s a nearly normal (slightly extended) maintenance for World of Warcraft this week
It’s a relatively short Tuesday morning maintenance for all versions of World of Warcraft with a brief one-hour maintenance for WoW Classic and Mists of Pandaria Classic, and a two hour maintenance for Midnight. That’s technically extended maintenance, but all around it’s quick when compared to the last two weeks.
Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, January 27:
- The War Within: Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)
- Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
- WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
All WoW servers are currently offline.
The launch of the Midnight pre-patch last week was a little rocky, and quite a few bugs remain in the patch. Not that I’m complaining about shorter maintenance, but two hours doesn’t seem like a lot of time to roll out fixes.
It’s no surprise — at least not to me — that the patch is on the buggy side. It’s a massive patch that has changed some big core systems. A lot of the base game has been modified to restrict addons and build tools to replace those addons. (And the built-in Cooldown Manager continues to throw enough LUA errors that Blizzard suggests disabling my addons.) The transmog overhaul still has a few issues, including the fact that changing your faction can completely remove your ability to transmog. Oops.
But that’s what hotfixes are for. Quite a few hotfixes have already rolled out — including cutting the price of transmog in half, which I’m thrilled about. Some of those hotfixes only go live with today’s server resets. But it feels like there’s a lot of work left to do.
We’ll see what happens when the servers come back online in a couple of hours, because Blizzard is always doing more work in the background than we’re aware of. Fingers crossed for fewer LUA errors, at least.
Hopefully I’ll see you in Azeroth soon!
