Lunar Festival is now live in WoW, with new transmog to collect (but no decor)

The Lunar Festival is back in World of Warcraft! This year the holiday runs from February 16 to March 2 on modern servers, wrapping up just before the Midnight launch. And this year we are blessed with new rewards in the form of transmog, with color variants on some rewards we’ve seen in the Trading Post before, now in Midnight-friendly shades of purple to match your newly voidy transmogs.

Here are the new items available from the Lunar Festival in 2026:

You can buy these items from Lunar Festival vendors in capital cities and Moonglade, though vendors in Moonglade have additional rewards you can pick up if you haven’t run this event recently and don’t have all of the older items.

To get all of the new items, you’ll need 200 Coins of Ancestry, which means you’ll need to start collecting coins across multiple characters. There are only 100 coins each character can collect every year, plus a quest in Moonglade that awards 25 additional coins for visiting Moonwells around the world (on a timer). Coins are soulbound, not warbound, so each character you collect them on will need to earn enough to buy something.

Fortunately collecting coins is relatively straightforward: simply visit the Elders across Azeroth during the Lunar Festival. Talking to each will give you a Coin of Ancestry and a Lucky Red Envelope (which contains random, non-rare holiday items), as well as some XP and reputation for all Horde or Alliance factions (through Honored). Elders are located in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, the Dragon Isles, and Khaz Algar, including Cataclysm zones and certain dungeons. Some of these are in capital cities or other faction-specific areas, so getting every last coin can take some effort dodging guards (or players) when you get PVP flagged. Spreading the work out over a couple of alts will make it easier to pick up easily accessible coins, grab your reward, and move on.

To make things straightforward, I recommend the addon HandyNotes – Lunar Festival (requires HandyNotes), which adds map markers for all Elders so you can easily go from one to the next, as well as some quest and achievement tracking for the holiday.

There are other rewards if you haven’t done the event in previous years, including the brightly colored Lunar Festival dresses and pants suits you see NPCs wearing (six variants for 5 Coins of Ancestry each). flower crowns in four different colors (25 Coin of Ancestry each), dragon costumes (three segments in three colors for 25 Coins of Ancestry each), and the Lunar Launcher mount (75 Coins of Ancestry). The more you want to collect, the more alts you should ready to run around Azeroth to collect coins.

If you’re tired with visiting Elders, there’s also the Winding Slitherdrake: Lunar Festival Armor, which is a cool customization of you enjoy the Winding Slitherdrake mount for 50,000 gold. That seems like a steep price for a cosmetic you can only use with a single mount, so I’m personally staying focused on coin collecting.

But there are some rewards that aren’t part of the Lunar Festival that surprised us. Wowhead datamined some “Lunar Celebrant’s” decor items that seemed likely to be rewards for this year’s festival, but they aren’t available on any festival vendors. We still don’t have a source for these, and now I’m wondering if we may see them show up as more purchases for the cash currency Hearthsteel — but nothing is confirmed yet. Hopefully these items, which include an aquarium, will be available somewhere soon. For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, enjoy the Lunar Festival and remember to practice safe fireworks handling. You’re wearing those things like a backpack, so be careful out there.
