Boxes: Lost Fragments and My Night Job are the free games of the week from the Epic Games Store
We have another pair of very different games from the Epic Games Store for free this week.
- My Night Job
- Release Date: April 21, 2016
- Game Type: Action, Arcade
- POV: 3rd person, 2D sidescroller
- Party: Single player
- DLC: None.
My Night Job is a classic arcade-style game, where you have to kill wave after wave of mobs before they kill you (and the people you’re trying to save). It isn’t complicated to explain, but it has that “just one more” popcorn feel from old arcade games. There is a roguelite element, where earning achievements and getting to certain benchmark will allow to you unlock additional weapons to add to your arsenal, but in general it’s just good clean fun. Or, as clean as fun can get with marauding zombies.
- Boxes: Lost Fragments
- Release Date: February 1, 2024
- Game Type: Puzzle, Point & Click
- POV: 1st person
- Party: Single Player
- DLC: None.
This game can perhaps be pithily explained as, “we have The Room and its four sequels at home.” That series clearly serves as heavy inspiration for Boxes, but if you enjoyed The Room, you’ll probably enjoy Boxes. There are only so many puzzles in one game to solve. The developer also made Doors: Paradox, which has a similar puzzling conceit but a very different vibe, so they do know how to make an excellent puzzler.
