A medium-length maintenance leads us into the second week of WoW’s Midnight expansion

This week all World of Warcraft servers are scheduled for two hours of downtime this morning, and it seems like a more reasonable time period than last week’s optimistic one-hour maintenance, which wound up running for two hours anyway. Perhaps this week’s maintenance period will be spot on.

Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, March 10:

  • Midnight: Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)
  • Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)
  • WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)
  • The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms: Offline from 7am – 9am pacific (10am – 12pm eastern)

All WoW servers are currently offline.

Blizzard Services will also have maintenance today from 9am to 10am pacific (12pm – 1pm eastern), but servers will remain online during this maintenance. However, things may not be entirely stable during this period. Players may have trouble logging on or experience disconnects, so while the WoW servers will ostensibly be online, you may see issues into the afternoon until services maintenance is complete.

While Midnight has been mostly stable since launch, we’ve had issues with lag and disconnects, and perhaps Blizzard is taking the advantage of both WoW maintenance and services maintenance to roll out some fixes to help keep all of us online. As to why the rest of the WoW serves types are coming along for the maintenance ride, Blizzard hasn’t said. Classic appears to have been running smoothly, even as crowds have flocked to The Burning Crusade on Anniversary realms.

Here’s hoping that the servers come back online as scheduled, and that services maintenance isn’t too disruptive. I’ll keep you updated right here on current WoW server status, and let you know when the servers come back online — or if maintenance is extended.

Hopefully I’ll see you in Azeroth soon!
