A new peek at Sierra, the newest Overwatch hero, in the Summit Breach hero trailer

She’s been teased in the lead up to Overwatch season 2, but now we can put a name with the face: Sierra will be the next Overwatch Hero.

A new cinematic served as a flashy, action-packed introduction, but didn’t give away many details.

Sierra is a DPS Hero, and she has a little butterfly mech on her arm. She does seem to be on the side of Overwatch and not Talon, since she speaks with Sojourn and says she’s trying to stop Talon, and the main antagonist in this trailer is Emre. That is more or less where the narrative ends. She doesn’t get a ton of character exposition — I’m inferring she’s American from her accent, that’s mostly just a guess.

This trailer is all action.

However, because it is action-packed we do get a sort-of look at what we might expect from her kit, almost all of which seems to glow bright pink. While the trailer begins with her climbing physically up a mountain, it would seem that she has some kind of grappling or another mobility ability tied to either her braid or her butterfly. It looks like she has an ability where her gun shoots multiple projectiles that may be target-seeking. She also shoots a single spike that seems to maybe detonate later. Unfortunately, she gets her butt kicked pretty thoroughly by Talon, and they get away with the macguffin. Seems a little harsh for an introduction trailer. Hopefully she’s tuned a little better on the playing field.

We’ll get to see her in action April 14, when the next season of Overwatch begins. We’ll likely also be getting plenty of discussion and rundowns on her kit and her backstory to build excitement in the lead-up to the new season.

She still looks like Dollar Store Cammy though.
