It’s a long Tuesday maintenance for World of Warcraft with the launch of patch 12.0.5

Though WoW patch 12.0.5 is just a minor patch, it’s having a big impact on this week’s maintenance schedule: modern WoW servers are scheduled to be offline all day, though WoW Classic just has an hour of downtime. So if you’re bored of today’s downtime, you can always hop over to the Classic realm of your choice for an afternoon diversion.

Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, April 21:

  • Midnight: Offline from 7am – 3pm pacific (10am – 6pm eastern)
  • Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
  • WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
  • The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms: Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)

WoW Classic servers are all back online, but Midnight realms remain offline.

Patch 12.0.5 has a lot of content, even though it’s just a “minor” patch. When the servers come back online, we’ll be able to use the Voidforge to upgrade gear, go spear fishing in Abyss Anglers, play hide and seek in Decor Duels, and push back Xal’atath’s forces in Void Assaults and at Ritual Sites. When the servers come up, we’ll have plenty of new activities to explore.

But for now, it’s a long maintenance to wait through. If playing Classic to kill time doesn’t appeal to you, maybe it’s time to pick up Dave the Diver to hone your fishing skills a little early. Not interested in fishing? Perhaps you’d like to listen to some of our Tavern Watch Plays actual plays, in which the team checks out different tabletop games (and always makes it weird). If you haven’t listened before, we’ve got a lot of recordings for you to  browse! (And I like to think they’re pretty fun, too.)

I’ll keep you up to date on the current WoW server status, and will update this post to let you know if the servers are up early or if they stay offline late.  Hopefully I’ll see you in Azeroth soon!

Or, well, Blizzard “soon.”
