When does Diablo 4 Season 14 end and Season 15 begin? The Season of Death Awakening runs until September
Diablo 4 Season 14 — the Season of Death Awakening — is currently live, having started on June 30, 2026 at 11am pacific (2pm eastern). Death Awakening has taken us back to Pandemonium, with Pandemonium Rifts opening around Sanctuary, letting in gravehounds, reapers, and realmwalkers (aka the remnants of Malthael’s reaping of Sanctuary). And while we may have a lot of questions about what will stick around after this season, the biggest question is: when do we roll forward into Season 15? Diablo 4 Season 14: Season of Death Awakening ends and Season 15 begins on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
So far, the only consistent part of the Diablo 4 season lengths is that they’re almost entirely inconsistent. Only two seasons since the start of D4’s seasonal play have had the same length: Season 2 (Season of Blood) and Season 7 (Season of Witchcraft). A little ironic that they have also been two of the stronger themes! Otherwise, we’ve seen a pretty wide range of lengths, from Season 12’s 47-day drop-in-the-bucket before the release of Lord of Hatred, to Season 3’s beefy 112-day length.
Luckily, we’ve always been able to track (even roughly), the length of the current season. Originally, the end-of-season date was published on the character selection screen; however, this visibility was removed with the introduction of Reliquaries. Following this shift away from the Battle Pass, you have to open the Reliquaries screen, where you see a countdown of the days remaining to make progress on those Reliquaries (and the remaining length of the season). Counting from there leads us to a season reset date of September 15.

But one of our other questions centralizes around an ongoing pain point — namely, the poorly received Mythic Uniques 3.0 system. This change has turned “Mythic” from a fixed list of items (now named Iconic Mythics) with Mythic rarity to a modifiable item quality that can apply to any Unique item. It has come with some significant downsides — for example, when you upgrade a Unique item in the Cube to a Mythic Quality, it rerolls all your stat affixes and (potentially) changes the item’s Unique power to anything in the same slot, so your Flickerstep boots could become Penitent Greaves. Additionally, you can only equip one crafted Mythic Unique, so you’re dependent on drops for all other slots, similar to Primal Ancient items in Diablo 3.
Now, Blizzard’s Season 14 blog post referenced only “this season” for Mythic Uniques 3.0; however, a pre-season interview with GameSpot says the change is permanent, intended to improve the game’s long-term health. They’re trying to break away from the fixed constant “best-in-slot” items in builds and promote build diversity. Instead, the pain of Uniques’ randomized stats in LoH — “fixed” in the latest patch by giving them two fixed stats instead of one — was compounded with an additional chase of Mythic quality versions. As GameSpot explained it in a followup article, we’re putting in “more work for worse items.”
Regardless, we’ll learn more about what’s coming in Season 15 when Blizzard announces the PTR, which we expect to land 4-5 weeks before the season start, or about mid-August. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and update you here when we know more. For know, just know you have until September 15 to enjoy the Season of Death Awakening before it rolls over to Season 15. See you in Sanctuary!
