Blueprint bug in WoW patch 12.1 could cause your house’s entire interior or exterior to be lost

Are you looking forward to using blueprints (not to be confused with Blue Prince) to save, import, or export parts of your housing build when Midnight patch 12.1 drops on August 11? We admit it’s pretty exciting technology — even if all you plan to do is move a room from one part of your house to another, it’ll save you a ton of work — but you may want to hold off on making use of blueprints right away for extensive changes; you might also want to make blueprint backups of your entire house, interior, and/or exterior first thing, due to a gamebreaking bug.

As first reported by user Deicide-UH on Reddit, importing an entire exterior or interior blueprint, then editing whichever one you didn’t import, will clear out all furnishings in the part you didn’t import. That is, if you use a blueprint to import an entire exterior layout, then enter Edit Mode inside your house, every single piece of furniture inside your house will be packed up and put away — only the rooms will remain. Similarly, if you import an interior layout to your house, then enter Edit Mode outside your house, everything outside your house will be removed — only the house itself will still be where you left it. The good news is, this doesn’t seem to apply to single-room blueprints or whole-house blueprints, so those should be safe to use.

While we don’t have a timeline for a fix yet, we do have confirmation that the developers are aware of it — Jesse Kurlancheek posted on X that they are aware of the bug, and presumably that means they’re investigating. However, just to be safe, when patch 12.1 releases, you may want to take a couple of blueprint backups of your current layout, and then maybe temper your excitement for importing that hot new layout for hopefully just a week or so.
