Blueprint bug in WoW patch 12.1 could cause your house’s entire interior or exterior to be lost (update: fixed)
Midnight patch 12.1 almost launched with a bug that would’ve been utter tragedy for fans of the upcoming blueprint feature for saving, sharing, and reusing house layouts. Luckily, this bug has been fixed on the PTR in time for the patch release! Regardless, it’s still a good idea to take a backup of your house’s inside and outside even if there aren’t any known bugs — just to be on the safe side, or to undo any changes you might regret!
As first reported by user Deicide-UH on Reddit, the bug worked as such: importing an entire exterior or interior blueprint, then editing whichever one you didn’t import, would clear out all furnishings in the part you didn’t import. That is, if you used a blueprint to import an entire exterior layout, then entered Edit Mode inside your house, every single piece of furniture inside your house would have been packed up and put away — only the rooms would remain. Similarly, if you imported an interior layout to your house, then entered Edit Mode outside your house, everything outside your house would have been removed — only the house itself would still be where you left it. The good news is, this didn’t seem to apply to single-room blueprints or whole-house blueprints, so those should be safe to use — and the better news is, this has been confirmed fixed at this point.
We did have confirmation that the developers were aware of it — Jesse Kurlancheek posted on X that they were aware of the bug, and kept folks updated in places like WOWKEA‘s Discord server. But the fix didn’t go out until just before the patch, which left some of us nervous it wouldn’t go live for patch day. It’s good to know that a fix has finally arrived on the PTR, but just to be safe, when patch 12.1 releases, you may want to take a couple of blueprint backups of your current layout, whether to prevent any further bugs or just to revert the fact that the drapes don’t really go with that brand new “Cursed Gaze of Ula’tek” Mural anyway.
