Another long maintenance day for Midnight, but a quick one-hour maintenance for Classic

Maintenance day for World of Warcraft is a little shorter this week, but not by much. WoW patch 12.1 launched last week with an eight-hour maintenance, which has been followed by several more off-schedule morning maintenances. Today, Midnight realms are scheduled to be down for just four hours, while all WoW Classic realms are scheduled to be offline for an hour. That’s not so bad, compared to last week’a all-day Midnight maintenance.

Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, August 18:

  • Midnight: Offline from 7am – 11am pacific (10am – 2pm eastern)
  • Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
  • WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
  • The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms: Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)

All WoW Classic servers are back online, but Midnight servers remain offline.

There is some additional maintenance this morning: Blizzard Services maintenance is scheduled from 8am – 9am pacific (11am – 12pm eastern), so even after Classic realms are back online you may see some connectivity problems or login issues. Still, it’s only another hour.

But again, it’s Midnight realms that will see the bulk of the work this week. Just a week into patch 12.1 and we’re already seeing some pretty significant class balance changes rolling out today, as well as a host of updates to Midnight Season 2 dungeons. Blizzard intends to do two more weeks of weekly tuning passes (to be applied on maintenance day) to ensure balance in Season 2 content, but we have no idea what might be in those future passes. We’ll have to see what the first week of Season 2 looks like to know what balance issues and bugs turn up.

For now, all we can do is speculate on which class will be nerfed next and wait for the servers to come back online. Hopefully I’ll see you in Azeroth soon.
