Hearthstone gets new Class Sets: Azeroth’s Most Wanted adds cards for Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior, releasing August 25

Hearthstone is getting four new class sets in Azeroth’s Most Wanted, a collection tied to the current Escape from Violet Hold expansion. These class sets add 29 unique new cards: seven for each of Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior, plus one extra neutral card for players who get all four sets. The extra card is a new bonus that wasn’t there the last time Blizzard released class sets. These new class sets will be releasing August 25, so these new cards are coming very soon.

The seven cards for each class set are divided like this:

  • 1 Legendary
  • 2 Epics
  • 2 Rares
  • 2 Commons

Since you get two copies of each non Legendary card, each class set will add a total of 13 cards to your collection. But if you get all four sets, you also get two copies of the extra Neutral card — an Epic called Wanted Poster — for a total of 54 cards.

Sets can be bought with real money or with in-game gold:

  • Each individual set costs $10 or 1,200 gold and contain 7 unique cards, for a total of 13 cards added to your collection.
  • The bundle with all four class sets costs $20 or 2,500 gold and contains all 29 unique cards, adding 52 cards to your collection, plus two copies of the Wanted Poster Epic and the Bounty Hunter Edwin skin (for the Rogue class).
  • The expensive golden version of the bundle with all four class sets costs $80 or 12,000 gold and contains the same 52 cards, but all in golden form, plus two Signature copies of Wanted Poster, and the Bounty Hunter Edwin skin.

But a purchase is not required, since all cards from the Azeroth’s Most Wanted sets can also be found in regular Escape from Violet Hold packs, or crafted with dust.

Do I need the cards in Azeroth’s Most Wanted?

Each class has a package of cards pushing a certain gameplay style, and there are some powerful options. Competitive players will likely find this a necessary purchase, but if you focus on classes or decks that aren’t benefited by these cards you may not be interested… or you may just want to craft a card or two.

The Rogue class set is all about Stealth. The new legendary, Mattias Shaw (of World of Warcraft fame) reduces the cost of cards in your hand by 3 whenever a Stealth minion attacks. Other new Stealth minions have similar effects, like SI:7 Slayer, which buffs stealth minions with +2/+2 whenever they attack.

Priests will rely on Reborn and Deathrattle. New buffs like the Haunt spell will buff a minion with +2/+3, Reborn, and Taunt, while the new legendary Raith Van Geist will resurrect all your minions that were Reborn during the current game and have them immediately attack random enemy minions. Is Shadow Priest back? I sure hope so!

Warriors will see the return of the Pirate Warrior archetype, but this time they’re equipped with cannons. Several minions have Cannoneer effects where they deal damage to random enemies at the end of your turn, or as your hero attacks. New legendary Captain Crowley summons more Cannoneers and makes them fire an additional time.

But the most exciting class set is the Warlock one, where Kazakus returns: this time, instead of crafting a potion, you’ll be plotting a sham trial. You’ll pick two from nine powerful effects (like taking control of an enemy minion, stealing cards from your opponent’s hand, summoning minions, or restoring health), and then determine when the trial ends — which also sets the mana cost of the resulting card.

  • You can make the effect happen immediately, but the card will cost 7 mana.
  • You can make the effect play out at the start of your next turn, and the card will cost 4 mana.
  • Or you can delay it to only finish in 4 turns. In that case, the card costs 0 mana.

You can read more details on the official blog. The Azeroth’s Most Wanted class sets will be released, as part of patch 36.4, on August 25.
