The Queue: Well that certainly was a week, wasn’t it

Welcome to The Queue, Blizzard Watch’s daily question and answer column. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) will be answering your questions today. Have a question of your own? Just leave it in the comments and we’ll try to answer!

I’m fairly certain this has been one of the more bizarrely entertaining weeks of my life, and I have all of you to thank for that, even though thank you doesn’t really feel like enough to say. So let’s just answer a boatload of questions, why don’t we?

Chrth asked:

Q4TQ: do you plan on buying the necklace heirlooms in 6.1? Why or why not?

Yes. Because I’m all about achievements and collecting things that I may or may not ever actually use. At least I’ll have them if I need them, much like that stack of Really Sticky Glue sitting in my bank.

Macho King Savage asked:

QftQ: What do you predict out of Tanaan Jungle? Will it be a daily hub, or something much different?

I’m guessing we will get some kind of daily/weekly hub with a storyline behind it — possibly that whole continuation of the Garrison Campaign quests — that hopefully delves more into the reasoning and discussions that must have happened between Garrosh and Grommash. You know, the conversations that convinced Grommash that building the Dark Portal and hitting Azeroth was a really good idea. The conversations that Grommash had with the other orc leaders to convince them to join the cause. A lot of Bleeding Hollow stuff. Possibly some Mok’Nathal stuff, as we haven’t seen them at all to date. More than likely some sort of raid, because this is the Iron Horde’s main base of operations — unless we see Grommash pull a peace out at some point and head for Farahlon.

Thiron asked:

A question for goldmakers. How do you decide if a random salvage green is worth selling on AH for transmog?

Speaking as a transmog aficionado, there’s a few different things you should look for.

  • What does it look like on a female character model? If it shows a lot of skin, put that up for transmog, because people like to make their pretty characters look pretty.
  • Is it black? Black items tend to sell pretty well.
  • Is it from Wrath or Cata? Typically, Wrath and Cata level greens don’t really sell as well, because all the armor models kind of look the same, and they’re pretty bland.
  • Is it a Mists green? Check and make sure it’s not one of the green models that can be easily purchased from a vendor in Jade Forest.
  • Burning Crusade and classic green items tend to go over better for transmog, because there was a lot more visual variety back then, and nice pieces can be matched up and blended into other sets to create unique combos.

Oh, and if it’s a bracer, just get rid of it. Nobody transmogs bracers usually. I do, but typically if I’m transmogging a bracer I choose the smallest visual model possible, because I’m going with some kind of small glove and the bracer will show otherwise.

FredoCorleoneRedux asked:

So since its been brought up somewhat – are any of you guys going to raid? On WoW Insider it seems like you were all bored and in the WRUP the people not playing WoW outnumbered the people playing WoW. Its a not insignificant part of the game now with it being more accessible than in WotLK for example, when it seemed like most of WoW Insider’s staff raided.

I’m pretty sure that most of the class columnists that we have coming back are all happily raiding in one form or another. I used to raid, yes, but I ended up taking a break while writing books last year, and enjoyed having the additional free time for writing so much that I decided not to pick it back up, for now. As it is, this expansion so far has been a very interesting and eye-opening experience in regards to single-player and non-raid content, something that I hadn’t really been able to look at first hand before.

Raelivh asked:

Lore question – been playing through Pandaria because I skipped that xpac.  Why are there trolls in Pandaria, specifically the Isle of Thunder?  I thought that nobody knew of Pandaria’s existence, and that trolls came from elsewhere?

The trolls you see in Pandaria are the Zandalari, the first troll tribe that all troll tribes originally came from way, way, way back — we’re talking prior to the War of the Ancients here, predating night elves. In ancient history, the Zandalar and the mogu were allies — the Zandalari took off when the last Mogu Empire finally fell and the pandaren took over on Pandaria. They returned to their home, the island of Zandalar, and lived there largely undisturbed. Fast forward to Cataclysm. When the shattering hit, the island of Zandalar was damaged, and slowly beginning to sink into the sea. The Zandalari tried to reunite all the scattered troll tribes into one mighty empire again, even going so far as trying to take back both Zul’Gurub and Zul’Aman, but we put a stop to that.

And then, suddenly, Pandaria reappeared. The Zandalari decided Pandaria would be a cool, new place to call home, particularly if they could rekindle their alliance with the mogu and help them rise back into power — that’s why they helped bring back Lei Shen, the Thunder King. Obviously none of this worked out, and we ended up wiping a giant swath of Zandalari out in the process. We are not done with the Zandalar Tribe, however. King Rastakhan and the mysterious prophet Zul still have yet to be seen in game.

DamionPseydonym asked:

Q4tQ: I know horde can have Gnome (Milhouse), human (Nat, Doc, Leeroy, and Croman), and Draenei (Tuulani & The Ghost who is Awesome) followers. Is it possible to get Night Elf, Dwarf, or Worgen followers in a horde Garrison?

Not that I’ve seen, no. The random recruits from the Inn seem to have Horde/Alliance counterparts, or at least they are listed as such on Wowhead. The troll druid that I recruited last week, for example, would be replaced by a night elf druid if I suddenly decided to switch factions.

AliokWOWDB asked:

QftQ: I find myself missing scenarios.  I play primarily as a DPS class, and although I was disgusted with them before even SoO at least it was easier on my time constraints.  (Scenarios weren’t the issue themselves; I just need variety as a player and was more sick of seeing the dungeons that hadn’t been added to since MoP launch.)  Does anyone else find themselves yearning for normal/heroic scenarios as a complement to running dungeons?

Oh man, I think scenarios are one of the things I miss the most. Even when I was raiding, if I wanted to log on and just do some stuff on my own in Mists, I could easily queue up for a scenario and be in and doing things within two minutes. I also really liked the story direction in the later scenarios, it was a really cool way to introduce a small piece of story that didn’t involve doing a ton of quests. They were really, really fun, and I miss them a lot.

Yeah, so I feel like I should be walking away slow motion from an explosion or something, now. See you all tomorrow!
