The Queue: Babby’s first selfie

I don’t want to hear any of you telling me I spelled baby incorrectly in the headline. Because I most certainly did not.

HIDDENBUNNY ASKED:

Why did they decide to add a confirmation dialogue when using a follower upgrade item? Now I had to click that damn ok button 100 times when I am upgrading my little army…

It is, no doubt, to prevent people from accidentally using the wrong item on the wrong person. It hasn’t happened to me, but I’m sure there are some poor people out there who used an ilevel 645 upgrade on an unintended follower, or even one they planned on deactivating at some point. The dialogue prompt is an enormous irritant when using a giant stack of upgrades all at once … but is hardly noticeable when you’re only using one, maybe two. I suspect we all had a stockpile of upgrades to burn through when the ilevel cap went up with patch 6.1, and we won’t have a stockpile like it again until the next raid tier/follower ilevel bump.

Temporary madness for a little peace of mind, I guess!

RETPALLYJIL ASKED:

Did Khadgar disappear out of everyone’s SW, or just mine?

He’s left Stormwind. He was only there on a temporary basis to give everyone the Warlords of Draenor intro quests. Now you’ll get that quest automatically … I think. That, or you’ll get a letter in the mail telling you to meet him at the Dark Portal.

TYRRELL ASKED:

What’s the rate on getting the SELFIE garrison mission? This was the main thing I was looking forward to and it’s been two days and nothing. Why tout a new feature and make it random to get?

I don’t know what the chances of it appearing are, but it doesn’t seem too terribly rare. I got my mission this morning. Right after I wrote this morning’s Breakfast Topic, in fact. That’s my first selfie at the top of this post! Gotta get that sweet shot of my food in there. How else am I gonna make you jealous of my amazing lunch? I bet you’ve never seen a more amazing wedge of cheese in your life.

TH3KING ASKED:

Why does it seem like dps lfr queues went back up to being stupidly long again? For the longest time I was getting almost instant queues for lfr as dps and it was amazing…

Yeah, I’m pretty bummed by that, too. I’m guessing there’s either a ton of people returning for the patch or not nearly as many players are ready/feel ready to go into Blackrock Foundry as there were running Highmaul. I waited over an hour to get into the Foundry last night and I was pretty close to logging out and just deciding not to play. Instead, I watched Youtube videos while AFK in the queue … which didn’t feel like a very good use of my time, but oh well.

RETPALLYJIL ALSO ASKED:

Has anyone ever had this happen in Hyjal?  I was standing there waiting for the next wave.  And waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

Then Thrall yells “It’s a wipe” and  … nothing happens. I never saw a single mob.

It’s possible Hyjal can get bugged these days, what with the ridiculous amount of DPS players can do, but I’ve never encountered that personally. It’s also possible there was a gargoyle off in some stupid corner somewhere plinking away at everything while you never saw it. I hate the Horde base for that reason; most of my characters are melee, and chasing down all of the flying mobs is a real pain. Especially on my ret paladin, who doesn’t even have an auto-throw ability like my rogue.

SOLIDUS ASKED:

What are your views on the Ashran changes? It feels pretty pointless to go into Ashran now but they still have the 200 CP you can only get from there

This inevitably happens with every PVP zone with PVE elements. The PVE elements always get the rewards stripped from them, which tends to discourage players from partaking in those aspects altogether. I can’t pretend to understand it; I don’t even PVP. At all. I like to think of myself as a pretty chill dude, but the moment I step into competitive gameplay, I punch my house down and burn the wreckage.

There’s a good reason I don’t PVP.

LANSEB ASKED:

Just to confirm, is there really only one type of trader available per day for everyone? Yesterday most people on my server seemed to have the tailoring (fur) trader, today LW. The patch notes weren’t exactly clear on this, and there are always 2-3 people that claim to have other traders in their Town Hall (are they trolling or am I working under the wrong assumption?)

There are, I believe, 5 different types of NPCs that can visit your garrison each day. Various types of quest givers, a vendor, etc. Which type of NPC you receive in your garrison is random, but everyone else who has an NPC of that type that day, they’ll have the same one. If you happen to get the Leatherworking vendor, everyone who has a vendor in their garrison that day will also have the Leatherworking vendor. You might have a quest giver that day — but there are still people who got a vendor, but everyone who got a vendor has the same vendor.

I believe the math on it is there’s a 1-in-25 chance of the vendor you need being available on any given day.

And that’s all for today’s edition of The Queue, folks!
