New StarCraft ladder maps coming to Season 2

Each season brings new maps to the competitive StarCraft II scene, and we’ve just gotten a first look at the maps we’ll see in play for 2015’s Season 2. Leaving the rotation for 1v1 are: Overgrowth LE, Catallena LE, Deadwing LE, and Secret Spring, which means there was room for 4 replacement maps. When looking for new maps, Blizzard was after “a good mix of balanced maps, maps that slightly favor a certain side in a given matchup, as well as maps that play differently compared to what we’re used to seeing.”

Joining the map mix for Season 2 are 3 TeamLiquid map contest winners as well as a map from the GSL. We’ll be seeing Coda LE, Echo LE, Cactus Valley LE, and Iron Fortress LE joining the existing map lineup of Expedition Lost, Vaani Research Station, and Inferno Pools.
